Bloodborne v2, The Hunt Begins

Wasn't it me that told you that secret in the first thread, Fumbles? :D

Once I got the hang of the mechanics I could easily get past the beginning area where the big bon fire was at, but kept dying on the bridge with the werewolves on the way to the first boss(optional boss). My blood echos kept going to waste since I couldn't upgrade anything since I hadn't unlocked the doll. I ended up getting to the bridge and sprinting past everything to get to the boss. Just getting to the boss gives you 1 insight and unlocks the ability to level up your character. Once I did that I could grind out some levels and made it tons easier.

i got past the bonfire a few times, but i guess i had no idea wtf i was doing and got killed somewhere else. once by some rat things in the sewers.

Oh wow I never realized it was the insight you gain from finding the first boss that allows you to use the doll. Awesome thanks!

No problem.

Which one lol. And if you did and I just don't remember, thanks! Know that I'm paying it forward I guess haha.

I'm not sure if it was you or not...I remember someone had the same problem about not being able to level up until getting to the boss and I said not needed...just go to the sewer first...

Either way, good stuff sharing...everyone here should be helpful when they can...

No, it wasn't me. I didn't post on any forum till I got past Amelia. The Cleric Beast took me a couple tries but I wasn't ever stuck when I started. All us white belts look the same lol.

Depth 5 chalice dungeons with all the offerings, mainly cursed, are a pain in the ass. A poorly timed roll during a boss fight and its over.

Im stuck on the very first level/boss. Should I start over and maybe chose a different weapon? The threaded cane just seems to have no power to it.

Yea it feels lame, but I have just been running past all the enemies until I get to the boss. Just gotta beat him now...

A lot of people love the cane but it was my least favourite starting weapon. Having said that, the transformed whip worked well for me against the first boss. Seemed to stagger it quite a bit. Just try not to stand in front of it.

I also started with the cane and wound up regretting it. There are 2 ways to get other weapons in beginning part of the game though. Both are in the
sewer
area. The first is a "hidden path" near the beginning of the area
Before the staircase there are some barrels that you can roll through, it's pretty obvious, then you walk along the beams and cut down a lantern looking thing, it has a saw spear that you can go down and get
The other thing unlocks the ability to purchase any starting weapon. I believe I got it by
killing the big ass plague boar in the sewer, I think it's called a hunters badge or something
but it's been awhile so I'm not positive.

Personally I found the Hunter's Axe to be my favourite weapon early on. I'm not too fond of the 1 hand version, in fact I might prefer the untransformed cane, however the 2 hand mode is sweet.

I'm loving the Hunter's Axe. I always favored 2H builds in DS. Feels good to smash things again.

This cane makes me feel like im bringin a knife to a gun fight. The whip is cool I guess, just hard to control in tight places.

Thanks man for the tips, I think I know which barrels yoiu are talking about. Is it the part where after you break them, you drop down to where all the dogs are in the cages? I haven't seen the sewer area yet.

I love the cane, went through my first playthrough with just that and a pistol.

I'm getting better, its just that i wasted all my molotovs and vitals before I knew what I was doing. Now that I'm better I just don't have some of the items I could be using. I'm having trouble with some of those dogs and big beast things without having some of those items.

I'm definitely using the shotgun more, I wasn't using it for awhile but now I'm stunning fools with it and following up with the cane.

You can get to the sewer near those dogs.

You cross the bridge in that area and then there will be more barrels you can roll through to get into some rafters. Up there you'll see two things that look like lamps and you can cut those down and one of them is a weapon, Saw Spear. There is also an npc in that area you can speak with. Things in that area are kind of strong for you level so take it slow.

The threaded cane has it's uses. The first boss is not one of them.

Dogs in this game are pure evil. They've played a role in all the souls games but they really upped the ante this time.

Really enjoying this game. I chose the hunters axe to start with, just started using Ludwigs holy blade though.

After finally taking down the blood starved beast solo I have been helping other people kill it using the resonating bell, it's a pretty quick and decent way to farm blood echoes and feels good to help others take down a boss I struggled with.
