Bloodborne v2, The Hunt Begins

Apparently they are called Soot Monsters. They are not hard really at all, but this particular one spawns in a barn loft and I can't get a lock on him and I can't see him very well without a torch. I'll try the hip lantern tonight and hopefully that will let me lock on to him and still use my pistol.

Oh, the things that the witches summon during the boss fight? I didn't remember having a hard time with them. I remember like three being on the screen at once. Got a bit chaotic when the witches start casting those binding spells but I didn't have lock on issues that I can remember.

I wouldn't bother trying to kill all those things unless necessary. They are mere distractions and will get you grabbed by the witches' magic. Just keep moving around the room and look for the red orbs which usually signify the witches appearing. Avoid standing still during that fight.

I actually don't think you guys encountered them where I am. I'm bored and watching ENB's playthrough of Hemwick and these guys aren't showing up for him.

It's either because I'm doing hemwick after killing Vicar Amelia (it's nighttime in my game now) or because of insight.

It is also possible that your controller is getting warn if you use it really heavy handedly. The sticks on the ps4 controllers are moreso in this generation made for needing only a soft touch. There were a lot of "converts" from xbox with this PS4 that were mangling controllers because xbox controllers are made for "rough americans" whereas the PS4 controller is more intended for a finesse feel. I don't mean for this to be offensive, but if you are smashing the joystick it might be picking up more poorly as time goes on.

Another thing I highly recommend is changing the setting to not drop lockons whenever you kill something. This is the way most of the souls games are setup and as you develop better souls skills it's better to think of locking on or not being locked on as "modes you can fight in." Mastery of unlocked combat is pretty important for having an easier time on larger bosses in souls games.

I think that in general most of the issues people face in souls games is adjusting to having to do so many things at once and the general feel of the game. It's very well polished. Much better than any of it's competitors but because of that their expectations are higher and the learning curve can be brutal. You need to be able to control the camera in unlocked while moving/dodging which requires the above skill to really not get screwed in a lot of situations.

Anyways stick with it and you will overcome. Check your controller(s) too.

When describing this game or any souls game the words "Very well polished" are about the furthest thing that come to mind. I am pretty sure that dude does not need to check his controller. It is pretty easy to tell that he is experiencing technical issues that are not simply learning curve or his controller being worn out. I experience all sorts of weird glitches all the time varying from being hit through the floor by werewolfs , being shot through brick walls, being locked into a first person view and my controls inverting until I unlock from the enemy. The technical issues in this game are countless , to me it is part of the game which I am used to. It however is a legit criticism of the game.

The Shadow of Yarnham kills me in a minute or 2 every time I play. What's the strategy to beat it?

Only technical issues I've heard of in reviews were the load times which have been shortened.

You'd think if it was such a buggy game it would have been brought up more.

I've only experienced one of the issues you described and that was something being able to hit me through a floor.

Take down the sword guy first. In the next phase he becomes the biggest problem. Use your stagger and riposte to gain invincible frames and avoid the Magic guys.

I do hemwick after vicar too. How much insight do you have?

Being able to hit through certain gates, stairs, doors and walls has been in all the souls games so I suspect it's by design.

Your controls being inverted is not a glitch either. The camera self adjusts to avoid walls. Just turn off the "camera auto adjust" in your settings. That feature is retarded so I always turn it off.

I think I'm at 17 right now. I've encountered three of these guys so far and I just watched ENB's (he has 7 insight) and they are not showing up for him. He also got different dialogue from the one NPC than I did.

The guy that is getting me is in the same barn as the guy in the wheelchair, but on the other side. All you can really see are his eyes and I can't lock on to him. It's not a big deal but it's more tedious than your normal encounter.

Bloodborne Build Simulator...

It essentially enables you to pick an Origin and then tailor your levels to see what kind of impact they'll have on your hero. You can equip different weapons, too, and examine how levelling them up will enhance your proficiency in combat. It's honestly really helpful stuff, though obviously you'll need to actually play the game to get a feel for what type of playstyle you prefer.

Sounds like you're talking about the barn before the boss fight. I always keep my insight between 10-15 so I dunno if that would be it. You might want to just run. :icon_chee

Hmm this is weird. This is what I found when I researched it:

The demon guys that are spawned during the Hemwick Witch fight do NOT spawn in the Hemwick Charnel Lane, even with 99 insight. They only spawn if you kill Vicar Amelia before going there (And thus changing the time of day to night).

EDIT: Just read that 15 insight causes them to spawn as well. Seems like it's one of these two that contributes.

Witch of Hemwick easiest souls boss ever?

I think I missed out on a lot of NPCs. They all seem crazy now after vicar Amelia

I did Hemwick after Amelia but I spent my insight. I encountered no soot monsters.

Yea I am sure all of those are in there by design , all part of the fine polish

Well it spans different generations of tech and several games. And it does create tension not knowing where the next hit is coming from.
