In my opinion, yes. These early critics reactions are usually a barometer if a movie will be good or not (or at the very least, won't be terrible). Don't mistake these for early fan reactions though.@Dragonlordxxxxx, I know you have to post those, but can we even trust early reactions anymore? Can we consider them to have even an ounce of relevance?

New BLADE RUNNER 2049 Short Film "Nowhere to Run" Starring Dave Bautista
When have these critic reactions ever been a clear indication of what's to come? I remember those early reactions said that Batman vs Superman was going to be the best superhero movie we had seen, and look at what happened. It makes things suspect when they all use similar language in their early praise.
Never, but you don't look at the content of the review. What's more telling is the number of reviews, aka how many eyeballs are trained on it. High marketshare doesn't equate to a good film, either, but it does indicate how much a film is being pushed into our consciousness and will result in, you guessed it: our talking about it right now this very moment. When have these critic reactions ever been a clear indication of what's to come? Well see, they don't want my demographic. Blade Runner is one of my all-time favorite films. They don't need to court me. I'm going to end up seeing it grumbling all the way to the ticket booth that they shouldn't have made it. They don't need our kind, people that already talk about movies a lot. They want moms that love Ryan Gosling in that movie where he cried a lot. They want 16-24 year olds who haven't grown up knowing and loving this stuff.but it does indicate how much a film is being pushed into our consciousness and will result in, you guessed it: our talking about it right now this very moment.
I think you had this conversation with other posters last month, I didn't participate and just kept my opinions to myself.I would've sworn we had a conversation about how early critic reactions--for ANY movie--are ALWAYS positive and are not to be trusted.
Wow 3 people using the word "masterpiece" reckon some subliminal cues were at the theater or in the movie somehow? Perhaps in their viewing invitationz.
That said, it would have to be a great movie for them to offer those cues forward.
Yes, probably. Your ticket and my ticket are already guaranteed. Of course they want to haul in more asses that are hesitant, and justifiably so BLADE RUNNER is not the easiest film to love.Well see, they don't want my demographic. Just a correction on Batman v Superman. The favorable early reactions came from fans, not critics. When the critics embargo was lifted, they were mostly negative. [Edit: There was no embargo because the movie was screened on March 22(?) and the critics were able to give their reviews to the public immediately afterwards]When have these critic reactions ever been a clear indication of what's to come? Well I'll just say this:
I remember that ALL of the early critical reactions to The Fate of the Furious were positive. Every single one of them, across the board.
And now? It sits at a 66% on RT.
You will not convince me that it was just one big coincidence that ALL of those early critics just happened to love the film when so many critics that came after them had issues with it.
Fair point. How do positive pre-reviews and tweets get past the embargo? I thought any professional official opinions would be shielded until it's time. Or, are those opinions only allowed when they're positive?Just a correction on Batman v Superman. The favorable early reactions came from fans, not critics.
