LOL I love subtext. It's so delicious sometimes.
lol What is your opinion of him? Do tell!*shrug*
I've said what you're saying a hundred times or more on these forums, but if you want to base your opinion of my position on this one post made in jest at the end of the hard day, it won't change my opinion of you.
None of that good stuff matters.
All that matters to them is that women were presented sexually in the film.
Apparently any women who are naked and/or having sex is sexism.
Again though I think its questionable to lable this reaction as "feminism" when the reality is that when sex is concerned especially theres a hell of a lot of disagreement between people who call themselves feminist.
SJW friendly entertainment usually ends up terrible as both product, and seller. That's pretty much the only impact they have. WHen they try protest something, it tends just give it free advertising, helping sales, especially if it's good.It had SJW backlash due to its portrayal of women
I also don't think its a movie for the casual audience. Its almost 3 hours with heavy themes and you really need to pay attention
Its not a turn your brain off type sci fi film like the new Star Wars

I agree with you on it not being for a casual audience. I still thought it would do better though. I loved it. It's rare to see a follow up to a beloved IP be so great, especially after so many years. It's usually trash, like Ghostbusters 2016, or the new Star Wars trilogy. At least Blade Runner 2049 will have a long life cycle. Like the first, which didn't do well initially either, it will be a cult classic, maybe just to a lesser degree.
There are a million shades of feminism, from passive apathetic to hostile militant.
WTF? I thought feminists would love this. It has Luv the female replicant kicking everyone's ass.
The main character's boss is a woman, who is portrayed in a positive light. The leader of the replicant revolutionaries is a woman. The most pure/good character is Deckard's daughter.
The men are portrayed as villainous, cynical, incompetent, weird or dull.
K: Stoic and dull
Deckard: Jaded, angry, cynical, hermit.
Wallace: Evil billionaire scientist
The male police officers: assholes

Blade Runner movie experts I seek your help . . .
I’ve recently watched the original and 2049. I’d like to get the original on VHS but read in this thread there’s different cuts of it? The one I watched had a voice over and no unicorn. Which version is best in all y’all’s opinions to pick up on VHS?
I believe there are three versions you could find on VHS, the US thematical version from 82 with the voice over and the happy ending, the International cut of that which is almost he same but has a bit more violence and then the 1992 directors cut which takes out the voice over and the happy ending along with a few other changes, its basically the really significant change in the film, the Final Cut(which isnt on VHS as far as I know) is a slightly updated version of the directors cut with some redone matt FX work.Blade Runner movie experts I seek your help . . .

I also recently watched both myself and looked into the different versions. The one with the Harrison Ford voiceover is the original theatrical release from 1982. Supposedly Ford totally half-assed his reading of those lines because he didn't agree with putting them in the film, but they did anyway.
Consensus best version among BR nerds is the 2007 Final Cut. This is the only version that Ridley Scott had complete control over and is his original vision for the film.
Damn okay so even the ending switches up. Now I’m really curious to see how it actually ends (don’t tell me! Lol). So many cuts of this movie, I’ll have to try and get the 1992 version on VHS. That’s probably why there’s such price differences on the listings, I didn’t understand why they varied so wildly. And then get the UHD cut too (or did you mean the blu ray is the better one?).I believe there are three versions you could find on VHS, the US thematical version from 82 with the voice over and the happy ending, the International cut of that which is almost he same but has a bit more violence and then the 1992 directors cut which takes out the voice over and the happy ending along with a few other changes, its basically the really significant change in the film, the Final Cut(which isnt on VHS as far as I know) is a slightly updated version of the directors cut with some redone matt FX work.
There is also the workprint versions with came out on DVD in the box set of the Final Cut which was basically the earlier version before the studio demanded changes, more akin to the directors cut with some differences, its not in great quality though and missing some FX work. The UHD version is a bit different as well, same cut but the colours are not as heavy on teal as the bluray of the Final Cut, I do think thats ultimately the best version.
The really significant difference is between the original cinema version and the directors cut, the other cuts differences by comparison are much less significant.Damn okay so even the ending switches up. Thanks for the info fellas!
Thanks hun. You’ve been a great help xThe really significant difference is between the original cinema version and the directors cut, the other cuts differences by comparison are much less significant.
The UHD version of The Final is I'd say the best overall, not just the format but it doesnt have as much of a teal wash to it as the bluray of The Final Cut.
