I am going to be in the minority on this one but this movie lugged through parts like it didn't know what it was. It starts off with it being an action movie and then it slow down to a crawl. The movie at times felt like it was on the cusp of being something that the other marvel movies aren't and then it just jumped on the well traveled road.

Here is how the movie should have went. Killmonger should have not had the agenda of killing every suppressor around the world. Make him a character that is about destroying or opening up the advance society whatever it is called to relieve the suffering of nearby neighbors (famine, aids, war, disease, refugies, ect) . The moment Killmonger becomes a genocidal maniac, he no longer is a character that anyone can sympathize with. We could have had a bad guy that was more "right" than the society that the good guy emerged from. Imagine, that. A bad guy and a good guy both operating in a very gray region. But no, they fucked it all up and made it into this pointless black and white movie. Killmonger could have been this good guy who would do anything to save his neighbors. An end justifies the means sort of a guy that you can't really argue against his intentions.

I give it a 6/10. I liked that it was touching on stuff that other super hero movies haven't but it played it safe when it shouldn't have.

Yeah, the more I think about the movie, the more I find it forgettable. Best character was a henchwoman in a super hero movie. What's that tell you

I saw the movie a tad later then usual and I always forgot to say a few words and vote.

8/10 for me, it's a good movie overall I've liked it better then their past efforts with Spiderman and Thor.

The best part of it were the villains in my eyes they outdid all the other characters from the side one like Klaue to the main one Killmonger that I simply wanted more screen time.

The King was serviceable even good at some points (I liked him more in Civil War he was more badass), his sister the snarky character was nice and the other ones are kinda forgettable especially the Get Out guy or the love interest to the King, Lupita Maz Kanata.

Strange that their were so advanced but they still did that "they are the royal blood they are the chosen ones to lead us" thing then we got that all leader by trial of combat and all the tribal stuff that seemed off in the context of the most advance civilization on Earth. I guess it's part of the comic book and African roots, I guess you have to run with it like that.

Action scenes felt off, felt lacking overall, CGI wasn't up to the standard of a modern MCU movie that will make a billion dollars.

Nit pick, their world/city felt a bit like "it's there, in the background" I don't know how to describe it like they wanted it to do it on the cheap and I didn't feel the sets or that they were real or at least give the impression, they even cheapen out on the all 1 lab for healing, for simulators etc, not to mention they could have easily drugged and moved the CIA guy to a different place if they really wanted to still stay hidden.

Good movie overall, has a little message, has great characters for bad and good especially Eric, different flavor and style, kinda underwhelming action but overall a better and more memorable movie then anything they put out since GotG 2.

can you spoil the post credit scenes for me, please.

What ? they aren't much to be honest.

Wakanda joins the world publicly and officially.

Bucky (the Manchurian candidate of the MCU) walks around the village suggesting he has been cured just in time to die.

Say what?

In the end of Civil War they froze him in Wakanda to buy time to 'fix him' while staying safe I guess.

Now he wakes up and the little snarky sister / genius inventor is showing him around the village this implies he has been cured of this mental problems and brainwashing.

This is kinda cynical since the next movie is coming and people should die in that one if they want to be taken serious and if you lose some characters you first take this lesser ones like Bucky.

Dragon said spoiler tags aren’t needed any more.

The first scene was T’Challa at a UN meeting announcing Wakanda’s coming out, and some delegate essentially asking him, “What can brown do for us?”

The second scene was Bucky the broke white boy waking up, and Shuri telling him he’s got some things to learn. Also all the kids were calling him White Wolf which got fans speculating might play along like the character from the BP comic.

If the movie is forgettable, you would think about it less. Not more.
Correct. I don't remember it until the thread pops up, honestly. or if it comes up else where.

If you read comic books, i don't know how you can say this.
There are Marvel and DC characters that are literally 50+ years old. Many stories told in comics are derived from real life events, themes, and people.
"Comic book movies " are not all just about tights, CGI, and Fast and the Furious style ridiculous action. They have stories with themes and lessons.
The Killmonger in the Black Panther comics has similar views to the ones shown in the movie.
Xmen was a story about racism and other forms of discrimination
Politics isn't a new thing in comics

People are being really tone deaf on why this movie is significant to many. There hasn't been a mostly black cast in a mainstream movie like this that has been this successful. It's a movie that shows blacks outside of the stereotypical roles people are used to seeing them in. It shouldn't be hard to understand why that means something to people, nor should it bother or offend you.

point taken.
i wouldnt say im offended but i am taken back that so many people have placed it on a pedestal to the point where your labeled a racist if you point out the films flaws. of which there are many.
and i guess i find it sad that a movie like this is being called the best when to be honest i found it to be sub par at best. and whats new about the black people in this film? ive seen africans in film before, ive seen black heros, ive seen good and bad black people in movies. the masses didnt get behind blade.
its not that the movie was unfaithfull to the source material by anymeans that bothers me.
politics in the film are expected as stated its a part of the source material.
i have to actually ask the question do people actually like the movie or do they just love the idea of the movie?
in that sense perhaps it is allot more than a movie to some people. and i can appriceate that.

Correct. I don't remember it until the thread pops up, honestly. or if it comes up else where.

A friend of a friend cried after seeing the movie, knowing that this was the first movie that she could remember that there was a black super hero and black people worth saving and maybe her kids wouldn't have to grow up without black super heroes or seen as equals in movies. I can't relate to that on a certain level just not being black. That makes this movie very different from not just other super hero movies but movies in general. That said I can't relate but africanness ,if that is a word, is sorely missing from movies and tv. 1 out of 6 people on earth live in Africa and it is like a void in the media.

So, no I don't think this was a particularly great movie but I think there are a lot of reasons to give it more attention than just the quality of the movie.

What were they, I left when Black Boromir summoned the rhinos.

<bball2>

Scene 1: T'Challa and his crew announce to the UN they will be ending Wakanda's policy of isolationism and sharing their technology with the world. In the hope that Wakanda can be an example to other nations. One of the UN officials asks what a nation of farmers can offer the rest of the world. T'Challa just smiles, as does Ross who is in the audience.

Scene 2: Bucky wakes up in a hut near a river in Wakanda. He is wearing African clothes. He goes outside and meets Iron Heart. She tells him he still has a lot to learn.

Not as bad as the piss-take after Homecoming, but not much better:rolleyes:

I'm not a superhero movie fan or do I really follow the marvel scene at all but.... This movie had me lol it was really good.

I agree that Thanos needs to leave a lot of bodies on the ground, but I doubt Bucky will be one of them. Chris Evans is about to tap out as Cap. Seb Stan is the natural successor. More likely Cap buys the farm and Bucky picks up the shield.

I think he is to tainted for such a role, can't go from him in Civil War to Captain America the Manchurian candidate version.

That's what they did in the comics, though. Bucky was the Winter Soldier; the only difference was he killed people for the KGB rather than HYDRA. When Cap was "killed", Bucky took up the mantle of Captain America, and even retained it when Rogers came back to life and became the head of SHIELD.

1 out of 6 people on earth live in Africa and it is like a void in the media.

They're represented well in the media. Nigeria's Boko Haram, the 2 Sudans, Liberia, Congo, Libya, Egypt. It goes on and on and on.
