I just realized I first became aware of Mike Perry when he fought on Conor vs Diaz rematch at UFC 202. They put Perry on the main card. That was a lot of exposure. I love Perry! He reminds me of hybrid of Nick Diaz x Phil Baroni

I’m getting soft maybe but I kind of feel bad for Rockhold. He never really got respect in Strikeforce or UFC because he was the pretty boy with good skills. His personality didn’t help gain him fans either. But after that fight vs Paulo Costa.. it was amazing to see the entire MMA fan base give Rockhold his flowers. I don’t know what happened tonight but I do believe Rockhold might have underestimated Perry.

Perry is more popular than like 98% of the UFC roster. He is more popular than any other ex-UFC fighter in BKFC, including Rockhold.
I think UFC never would’ve predicted this success when they let him go. I remember not even long ago Perry was getting into bar fights and UFC helped out by putting him in a treatment program, he also went through a breakup and a new marriage before that, but Perry seems to be in a really great place in life. I’m happy for him

I figured Luke was a coward but I didn't think it was that bad. Good on him for cashing a check and pretending his jaw broke. Lets see the xrays. I bet there won't be any.

God forbid man. How much does it take for you and other's to realize this was about money? How thick headed can you be??? Why should he had not fought, when he said this was his biggest paycheck ever!
Luke is a desperate coward.

Luke is a douchebag. Don't feel bad for him. I feel bad for fighters like DJ who were underappreciated.

bro, you're not more successful than luke rockhold. lol. don't feel sorry for him.

Try to introduce a bit of irony to this forum and this is what I get. Yeah, I feel bad for rockhold. He’s not a bad guy. He came back for a good fight and man, that’s a gnarly picture of his teeth. Don’t think anyone could have seen that coming. (BTW, look up tongue in cheek). This has nothing to do with one person’s narrow definition of success.

Man that’s the excuse every time Rockholod loses. You’d think he learned not to underestimate opponents by now.

There goes the modeling career

Who doesn't like even less gloves on.

Had that exact thought. Seems like it would be more exciting if there was at least a thin layer of padding. The fights would last longer and we would get to see more demonstrable skills.

100%, perry is a character and has the fight skills to back it up. taking out MVP and now Rockholdyama, the sky is the limit. I don't want to see him piece up Cerrone, i'm sure BKFC will find/make another intriguing match up. They seem to know what they are doing in that department.

100% underestimated Perry, you know he thought he beat Costa. unfortunately when you're fighting a crazy dog, who has done this before, and understand the bareknuckle game, it's difficult to find your footing. perhaps if he had an easier match up against a no-namer, it might have been better. but thats a lot of pressure, in colorado, against a top dog who just beat MVP, it's another hard ass fight. Luke doesn't back down from challenges, that's one positive thing you can take away from all of this. Dude has consistently put himself in there against the odds. Hasn't always worked for him, but I am always tuning in, and entertained. Hope the guy can figure something out, he's got skills, he just needs some sort of threading, sort of combination that works for him.

I didnt get to see tonight, but I saw a tiny clip. Rockhold just quit? I was expecting him to go out on his shield.
looks like he broke some teeth and potentially a jaw, we don't know 100% yet. i'd imagine it is something like that. dude went all out against costa, i don't think he'd just quit against perry.

So according to Platinum Mike Perry, Luke Rockhold did not have the right kind of mouthpiece for the fight tonight.

The BKFC 41 main event was stopped when Luke pointed to his mouth to get ref Dan Miragliatta's attention during a referee break.

The BKFC owner said something along the lines of "Luke's teeth were all fucked up" or "pretty busted up" or something to that effect during the post fight presser.

So it would appear that Luke got some broken teeth, and may not have done himself any favors by not showing up with a mouthpiece which would offer sufficient protection, which would seem like a good idea when getting punched in the mouth by a bare knuckled opponent.

Let me know if my assessment is way off or if I am being a big ol meanie, or if I am missing something and it is in fact me who is the big dummie.

If you didn't catch it, it was a solid card.

Ben Rothwell vs Copeland was solid HW banger.
Chad Mendes and Eddie Alvarez had a great fight as well, both showing heart and skills.
