Media BJ Penn losing his mind

If it's from a traumatic brain injury it's probably not curable. It's treatable though.

Eh still you wouldn't lock him somewhere if you can treat the symptoms.

Also, I haven't ever heard of CTE causing Capgras syndrome.
I guess it's possible in theory due to it being associated both with decline and with PTSD, and it can be because CTE isn't really well researched and documented.
But yeah I wouldn't assume that's the case with no instances of this happening that I know of.

It can literally be caused by a traumatic brain injury.

He may or may not have CTE, but I think it's highly likely he has brain damage.

that's probably true, but we don't know that for a fact. people without cte develop this condition, too. anti psychotics might work. no one here is a doctor with access to his brain scans.
The effort to treat BJ should, of course, be made, but the presumption until demonstrated otherwise should be that such treatment will fail and that the safety of others takes priority over his treatment.

This is not even funny anymore. He's probably going to kill his mother if authorities don't get involved here.
I have a friend who is recently exhibiting signs of extreme paranoia (similar to this, but not with doubles, other outlandish conspiracy theories). It is so difficult to get the attention of the authorities. The police showed up after a family member anonymously reported him following a domestic incident and nothing came of it.

He will have to hurt someone before the authorities take it seriously. Very sad.

The respectful thing to do is not share this all over the internet, although I recognise the world we live in now. War BJ Penn hope he gets well.

In December 2012, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher fatally shot his 22‑year‑old girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, before driving to the Chiefs’ practice facility and taking his own life. Nearly two years later, at the family’s request, a post‑mortem examination of Belcher’s brain revealed the presence of neurofibrillary tangles of hyperphosphorylated tau protein—hallmarks of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Belcher’s case drew national attention to the potential link between repeated head trauma in football and severe behavioral changes. His family subsequently filed wrongful‑death lawsuits alleging that the Chiefs organization ignored signs of cognitive and neuropsychiatric impairment in the months before his death.

There was another case I remember of a crazed football player killing a random doctor and then himself. Ticking timebombs.

All of em, even though this is one guy out of thousands, they're all ticking timebombs.

just waiting for his flat earth post to pop up

Gotta disagree here.

The longstanding benchmark for when someone needs to be placed in precautionary psychiatric custody has been:

"Subject presents a clear and present threat of inflicting harm upon themselves or others."

BJ literally talks about harming people in his social media posts

And at the risk of stating the obvious here, claiming that someone is wearing a mask which presents them as having another person's FACE is psychosis and a symptom of schizophrenia and or other psychiatric illnesses, in this instance quite possibly CTE (though that becomes difficult to diagnose in a living patient)

Everything people have been saying about what is gonna happen to Tony Ferguson is literally what is happening to BJ Penn

Was he ever truly sane?

A 2019 comprehensive review highlighted a significant association between Capgras syndrome and interpersonal violence, especially toward close family members and caregivers. Notably, mothers and spouses were the most frequently targeted, with approximately 58.2% of patients displaying physical violence. The review also found that about 1 in 10 Capgras patients attempted homicide.

That's sad, and it seems is getting worse. I hope his family figure something out before somebody gets hurt

Why the hell hasn't authority or whoever step in yet? He's spiraling so badly and will definitely turn violent eventually.

With his fight coming up this weekend I’d like Bryce Mitchell, if that is his real name, to weigh-in on the facts about body snatchers

this has to be a joke. like bait . if its not he probably needs to be put in a home. thats beyond crazy.

Could be some really weird trolling/attention grab/family inside joke. If it's serious then that's really bizarre and sad. Could be something like drug induced psychosis though so it wouldn't necessarily be unfixable.

Sounds like Capgras syndrome. He needs serious help and is a threat to himself and others.

it says it can be triggered by brain damage/trauma so definitely a side affect of CTE, this is exactly what this is.
