I dropped an arch playing basketball years ago which has continually aggravated my Achilles. I'll put those on my Christmas list. Does the sizing run big or small?

...I need to space out my gear-whoring so why wife doesn't wise up to all of my purchases.

Nope. I'm normally 13-14, so if they run small I bump up to 14. Most running shoes run small.

I'll either be working for Bayer or a pharmaceutical contract manufacturer. I have one last interview on Monday and then I'll have to make up my mind.

so if you wear a size 13 then get size 12

For some reason i say that to myself but i've ordered shoes 3 times in my life and everytime everything worked out just fine. I have been burned on shirts before. damn sizes....

Pretty crappy session today. I had no energy and didn't bother with any PreWO drink. I broke my softball grip for chins (bw=250), but that can be fixed. I kept the weight light on the dips so I could go deep. Teh Bench sucked. Is it ok to say I hate benching...Well I do. I really don't enjoy it at all. I'm going to buy some rings soon and stick to dbs for a while, with the occasional cg bench. I really dig pressing shit over my head though.

Their was a funny moment at the gyn today though. Two PTers decided to squeeze in a chest workout. 3x15 bench @ 135lb. The kicker was they used a Theraband for their benching. This must of added a whooping 5lbs to the top of the lift. The smaller guy who is normally very quiet was yelling out the number of each rep when he was spotting. I mean yelling: THREEEE, YEah GET IT YEAH.......FOUR.....Needless so say. It was an awesome spectacle. I couldn't help but stare blankly. When they were done they looked at me and said, "We need to get some energy in here." I said, "apparently so........."

Leaving the gyn my wife come over to me and said, "please tell me that wasn't you yelling." She was on another floor tearing it up a treadmill and heard the glorious cry of the benchmonkey. I just said sorry hon' sometimes I get carried away when I'm when to 10. She punched me...and we headed home.

Also, as a tall fellow, I would guess you keep a wide grip on teh bench. Correct?
 
I'm trying to get my hands out on the bench, hence the low numbers. I've got frickin monkey arms. I'm talking a wingspan is around 6'9". I was at shoulder width. Now my pinkies are 1 inch inside the outer rings. I need to go wider huh?

Where do you put your hands?
 
I only bring this up because at your body weight and strength level, I figured you should bench a bit more. (Especially, when you consider how you are destroying 225+ on the push press)

I'm 5'7" with short arms. I have my hands in about the same place you do. My understanding is that tall individuals with long arms usually do better with a wider grip, which might help you. It will limit your ROM, which is already laughable long.

But, I got tons of bench problems. You might want to ask Fatty, Devil, NerdKing, Lusst or Fatkid for advice. I don't really know what your goals are (other than kickin’ ass). If you are not really interested in power-lifting, then the bench is not really that important.
 
Yeah, I haven't made much progress with the benchzors. I've got 250 at shoulder width, but I lose a bit when I move my hands out.

As a point of pride I think I need to pick it up a bit. I hate programs, but I may need a bench intervention with the amount I suck I brought to the gyn today.
 
Are you weak of the chest, but good at locking out whatever you can push off your chest?

Any suggestions? Should I hit up dbs from a while?
 
I would work on pause bench for a while with low reps sets, but with some volume. Focus on staying tight and give yourself a second or more pauses. This should help your starting strength. Try to add 5 pounds a week.

Heavy dbs would also work.

You could alternate between the two so you don't get annoyed with doing so much bb benching.

I agree. I do need to be more strict with the pause. I usually keep adding weight and abandon pausing halfway through a set.

I just have a boner for 2 wheels, but she doesn't reciprocate. Looks like it back to trusty 185 and 205 for some pause set action. You Dbs can hang out and watch.
