Best submission artist from the bottom?

Roussimar Palhares should be on the list. Crazy leg/ankle lock everytime! Beast.

Big Nog for me. There was a time when entering his guard could be considered suicide. After his prime I'd probably pick Werdum

I know many of you will jump to say El Cucuy but.

Anthony SHOWTIME Pettis is my pick!

Benson Henderson has competed on the highest level grappling events(ADCC, Polaris, etc..) and Pettis subbed him in 1 round. It's not like he was an upcoming unknown prospect, He had enough tape to study of him including a previous match they had where he couldnt do shit on the ground to him.

People always going on about how charles oliviera is a bjj wizard. Pettis still subbed him.

Also, cant forget that time he cought Gil Melendez while he was shooting in.

Or the back to back triangle chokes from the bottom he had back in WEC.

Pettis could have easily been an ATG in bjj if he only did it as a career from the start.

Alexey Oleinik vs Viktor Pešta - First Ezekiel Choke in UFC

still sad about this .. :D Pešta was second Czech fighter in UFC and they didnt give him any chance to acclimate in UFC - he was 23 years old he came from promotion which had events with 300-500 fans and he came to UFC and-(debut vs Magomedov lose , Erokhin win , Lewis lose,Tybura lose,Alexey Oleinik lose) they insta throw him in with top guys :D

Pettis is legit but when strikes are involved it changes the dynamics of the grappling game.

Pan-ams gold medalist Roan Carneiro getting subbed by blue belt Burns comes to mind.
I trained with Carneiro for years (around/during that time, as well), so that fight is forever etched into my mind. I'd like to point out, that striking while grappling wasn't even the issue: Jucao/Carneiro just sort of . . .laid in and stayed in a triangle. I remember replaying the fight trying to figure out why he didn't do . . . anything. 'Tis a strange sport.

for me it's oliveira. you can just see how much trouble guys are in when in his guard, it's practically constant.

Noguiera is another pride guy who stopped being effective once he came to the UFC. I take all those pride records with a pinch of salt. Crocops fearsome leg kicks, redundant in UFC. Noguieras sub game, redundant in the UFC etc.

Cool story bro.

He subbed Sylvia and Herman after coming back over from pride with circa 10 subs.

Just like Crocop, was knocking out every Tom, Dick & Harry in pride, overnight in the UFC he was getting sparked out by Schaub and Gonzaga.

He tapped Big Tim in his 2nd UFC fight for the interim belt?!

Aoki or Big nog.
Maia is great too but he gets top game on a lot of subs.

Dillon Dannis said Conor 2.0 is the best grappler he has ever rolled with
Yes, Conor with his one ever submission victory is the best sub artist from the bottom. God, you're a shit poster.

"Hey, is that a thread remotely about MMA? I'd better get in there and post some dumb shit about 'Conor 2.0' herpa derp derp"

He should probably train with better people then.
Shockingly SBG is a pretty heavy jiu Jitsu gym and has produced good guys like Gunner nelson. Conor being a fantastic boxing specialist out of it really isn't the norm.
