I know many of you will jump to say El Cucuy but.

Anthony SHOWTIME Pettis is my pick!

Benson Henderson has competed on the highest level grappling events(ADCC, Polaris, etc..) and Pettis subbed him in 1 round. It's not like he was an upcoming unknown prospect, He had enough tape to study of him including a previous match they had where he couldnt do shit on the ground to him.

People always going on about how charles oliviera is a bjj wizard. Pettis still subbed him.

Also, cant forget that time he cought Gil Melendez while he was shooting in.

Or the back to back triangle chokes from the bottom he had back in WEC.

Pettis could have easily been an ATG in bjj if he only did it as a career from the start.

Pettis is legit but when strikes are involved it changes the dynamics of the grappling game.

Pan-ams gold medalist Roan Carneiro getting subbed by blue belt Burns comes to mind.

Hard to pick as nobody seems to like to go down with real submission specialists like e.g. Ryan Hall

One of my favorites ever...

Alexey Olyinik, he is awesome from bottom, has thousands of different holds, most submission wins in MMA, he has probably forgotten submissions that the best BJJ black belts are only just learning.

Aoki, Mir, Nog, Werdum, and Maia are probably the top 5 all-time in terms of results within MMA.

He's great and has great chokes (obviously his Ezekiel being the the go-to) but he's not a good enough grappler to hang with "the best black belts". Not even close. Even when he was younger, he wasn't a Werdum-level grappler. I realize he's old, but look how Gordon Ryan just toyed with him recently.

Right now it's gotta be Charlie Oliveira. Hes the only one doing it right

I'd probably say Werdum, but Big Nog spent much more time on his back in fights and got more subs so...

Thats not what Din Thomas said at ATT, said the total opposite, that Olyinik came to train with them at ATT and they were shocked, he tapped out all their guys easily and he had holds that they didn't even know existed, and they called him the man with a 1000 holds. Said his grip was like a Bear too.

He is one of the best in MMA at subs. Werdum is good too but he has the fundamental rear naked chokes and triangles, Olyinik has so many different holds. Oh he is more than good enough to hang with other black belts who are in MMA and would probably tap them out or it will go to decision most likely.

4th degree BJJ black belt, its almost unheard of in MMA. amazing guy

This sounds similar to a certain Frank Mir quote

Currently Oliveira and Oleinyk.

Bonus points to Alexei for having a UFC win by subbing someone while mounted.

This. Know how we know? Because very few in his UFC career have gone into his guard. That isn't by accident, fighters avoid it like its COVID.

Jason McDonald repeatedly jumped into Demian's guard like he thought he was Jacare. Such an awesome fight, even if it was a dumb strategy.
