Best Featherweight Ever

Aldo has a much greater legacy at FW than anyone, he's the FW GOAT.

McGregor is a vastly superior fighter than Aldo both mentally and physically, though.

Why rule a boy's division if you can rule a man's division? McGregor did what all greats should do. Featherweight was obviously not for him, he destroyed a guy with 9 defenses in 13 seconds. Come on, it would even be kind of pathetic if McGregor defended instead of moving up to face harder opponents.

Cool.

Then he stops being a FW when he moves up. Get it?

We're talking about FW GOAT remember? Or did you forget your OP?

Depends on the criteria

Best fighter to have competed at FW? Probably Conor. With Aldo and Max just behind. Max still can get there, btw.

Best FW ever in terms of accomplishments? Aldo has it with a bullet right now but max is hot on his trail

You seem to forget that McGregor did not move up because he had a problem fighting at featherweight. He easily made weight there. What he did at greather weights reflects what he could more easily have done at featherweight. If he had stayed at featherweight, he would obviously be too powerful for anyone there.

He's not even close.

Won the belt then vanished from the division.

Aldo has 9 title defenses. How long did he rule the FW division?

Exactly.

Aldo has a title defense record that will be really hard to beat, so I can't argue with it. However, if Max can have 5-6 solid title defenses, he could earn the spot. Aldo's reign is a bit like Chuck's--he mostly fought grapplers and/or brawler types. He did beat Edgar twice, who's a great fighter, but that fight just favored Aldo stylistically. When Conor and Max arrived on the scene, Aldo's biggest weakness (technical strikers with power) became very clear.

I think it's very safe to say Max's opponents will be of a higher quality than Aldo's were. It's like the current MW division--I can't imagine anyone beating Anderson's title defense record--again, not to take away Andy's greatness at the time.

Lol.

Come on kid, you just proved my point.

Conor could have been the FW GOAT, but he chose to leave the division. Its a case of coulda, shoulda, woulda.

I think you're failing to grasp the concept of divisional GOAT.

100% agree.

Max is coming fast.

Then let me make my personal criteria clear to you:
Who would be the best fighter to ever fight at featherweight? McGregor is the obvious answer, since no man at featherweight would be able to beat him at featherweight. At least not in a trilogy scenario.

He's not though.

Aldo in his prime was better, and accomplished more.

And I guess you're never heard of Artemij Sitenkov.

Look him up. Best FW ever!

Why would a guy with 15 wins and 16 losses be considered the best featherweight ever? Even if he managed to land a great win, we can see on the many losses and lack of other great wins that he obviously isn't the best ever.

I'm not looking at single wins or single losses here, I'm looking at entire resumes and you should do the same.

Conor is not the best "only" because he destroyed Aldo. He moved up to face bigger and stronger opponents afterward and was in no way physically required to do so.

So, who was the best fighter to ever fight at featherweight? McGregor. I would favour him against any featherweight in history, at featherweight.

Aldo's resume is better than Conor's at FW.

Sorry.

Who do you consider the best featherweight ever?

It used to be Jose Aldo, but he got one-shotted by McGregor, so IMO, this makes McGregor the best featherweight of all time. What's your thoughts?
So by that logic, Matt Serra is the best welterweight. So is Anderson Silva not the best Middleweight or is Weidman?

Okay, for the sake of the argument, let's say I'm trolling.

I'm trolling you by claiming that McGregor is the best featherweight fighter of all time. My argument is pretty stupid, I mean, the only thing McGregor did was to destroy Jose Aldo in seconds and he was, like, regarded as the best featherweight of all time?

Now, since I'm merely a troll, I must have posted something that was annoying, but definetely not true. Will you please elaborate on that? Or perhaps the troll isn't me?
Well if you're not one you have bad logic. I'm a McGregor fan but by your logic you should think Max is the best since he beat Aldo clearly two times. You could argue that Conor got lucky (not saying he did) but Max displayed he's a lot better twice.
