Who do you consider the best featherweight ever?

It used to be Jose Aldo, but he got one-shotted by McGregor, so IMO, this makes McGregor the best featherweight of all time. What's your thoughts?

In all seriousness, it’s in a bit of a limbo. But if Max defends against Ortega and one other contender he’s got the GOAT FW title easily.

Not your best troll thread.

Okay, for the sake of the argument, let's say I'm trolling.

I'm trolling you by claiming that McGregor is the best featherweight fighter of all time. My argument is pretty stupid, I mean, the only thing McGregor did was to destroy Jose Aldo in seconds and he was, like, regarded as the best featherweight of all time?

Now, since I'm merely a troll, I must have posted something that was annoying, but definetely not true. Will you please elaborate on that? Or perhaps the troll isn't me?

Best FW career is obviously Aldo. Best FW? Probably Aldo, but I could certainly entertain arguments for McGregor and/or Holloway.

Aldo.

But judging by TS' logic, Artemij Sitenkov is the GOAT FW.

But give Holloway some time and he may surpass Jose.

FW Title defenses

Aldo - 9

Faber - 5

Mike Brown - 2

Max - 1

Conor - 0

Joe Duffy may very well be the greatest featherweight of all time. Beating Conor is impressive. But looking at Duffy's resume in its entirety, was it then a matter of Duffy being great or lucky?

You don't even need to answer.

Now, looking at Conor's resume, then what do you see? Was his destruction of Aldo a case of Duffy-luck, or did Jose Aldo turn out to be just another great fighter to be destroyed by McGregor as part of the McGregor routine?

Come on. I also think that McGregor is an annoying person who is scared of Nurmagomedov and who is doing everything he can to milk from the Mayweather conflict, but he is the best featherweight of all time.

He's not even close.

Won the belt then vanished from the division.

Aldo has 9 title defenses. How long did he rule the FW division?

Exactly.

"Best" is subjective.

Aldo has best career but Max and Conor beat hm head to head.

Why rule a boy's division if you can rule a man's division? McGregor did what all greats should do. Featherweight was obviously not for him, he destroyed a guy with 9 defenses in 13 seconds. Come on, it would even be kind of pathetic if McGregor defended instead of moving up to face harder opponents.

Anybody that knows anything about fighting/sports knows that staying at the top is a lot harder than getting to the top.

To even be considered a GOAT you have to defend your belt multiple times.

Defend your belt.... Conor McGregor... those two things don’t go together.

If knocking Aldo out in 13 seconds and then moving up to achieve greater things doesn't bring you close, then yeah, no one is close for sure.

Which evidence would mean more to you? Conor taking a walk or Conor running a marathon? He proved his greatness by doing something greater than merely defending against those small boy-size fighters. He did great against bigger and stronger fighters than the ones he would have defended against at kiddieweight.

Accolades trump single performances.

Aldo will be the best until someone has a longer title run or nearly as long with better competition.
