Best American Muscle Car?

They were 4-500 a piece for a nice one when I was in high school lol.

I paid 800.00 for my blk/gold ws-6 bandit 78 T/A
Not a 6.6L, a real 6.6 T/A
Now add a zero to that for one that needs restoring lol.

I’ve heard those Bandit Trans Ams are actually slow, brick handling boats but damn if I wouldn’t love to drive one for the experience

Just looked and seem the hellcat is top at 206 and new corvette is max at 208. Doesn't seem like they are really pushing forward if a car from 30yrs ago can keep up with them now and beat some
Top speed is for Bonneville runs and shit like that; something most people don't partake in anyways. Hell, most people won't use their modern cars to their full potential either, but regardless, the progress made is undeniable.

69 Camaro SS. From a looks perspective i believe that captures the muscle car feel.

Wow great photos and responses guys. Sometimes seeing these classic muscle cars makes you wish you had the money to buy them all like Jay Leno and his huge airplane hangars filled with classic muscle cars.

Which ones?

Hellcat? viper,Stang,Corvette, challager,? Which American muscle car goes 200+.

Corvette Z06 - 205 mph
Corvette ZR1 - 212 mph
Viper - 208 mph
Demon with speed limiter removed - 203 mph

Nobody realistically cares about going over 200. A Callaway car isn't a factory production car either. It's heavily modified. It's like the Hennessy Exorcist. You can take any car throw enough power at it and make it go fast. If the goal was top speed they could do it. These cars are made for a road course, they have gotten so much better on a track. 1.2 g turns, 60-0 braking in under 100 feet, etc.

I am biased obviously but I love the Mustang 5.0L. Off brand I do like the Challenger. More so the Hellcat then the Demon. But the Hellcat with the SCAT Pack is sick looking.

Not a yuge fan of the new Maro's but the old Maro's from the 90's were amazing. Loved those classic Firebirds.

I wish they would bring back the old style 90's Chevy Impala SS. Chevy ruined the Impala. It was a beast.

EDIT:

My next car...

This thing is an absolute monster. Super car performance for a fraction of the price.

Anyone wanna see some pics of my muscle cars in Forza that I tuned and painted? @TeTe @90 50 ?

Also, FCA NEEDS to bring back the

i liked the Olds 442

the girl i'm seeing now, her dad has a 2019 Shelby GT350. It's pretty dope

They made a new Demon?
The Demon was limited edition and out of production now. But they have updated the Hellcat with more Demon parts to keep the hype alive.

note the widebody treatment it gets from the Demon vs the regular Hellcat.

I wanna get one but not wanting to have to go in to debt to get it - so I'll admire them from afar. The car not the Gal in the picture.
That's Molly McQueen- Steve's granddaughter.

The Bullitt is just a regular Mustang with a mild tune and some unique cosmetic parts. It's about the price of a fully loaded Mustang GT. Not as special as say, a GT350 or a Boss 302. You could probably get one used for the price of a new Camry in a couple of years.

Different eras, I know, but it's hard for me personally, to get excited about a vehicle with like 33 horsepower/litre of engine displacement. That said, there are some older cars that I like the idea of, but I don't have the patience or skillset to own and live with.
Here is where just reading spec sheets will fuck with you.

Late 70’s everything was detuned way down because of emissions an fear of another gas crisis etc.

While the Pontiac 400, 6.6 T/A was only listed at like 220 or so horses, it was a torque monster and wasn’t all that slow.

And it took very very little tinkering to wake it right up.

The exhaust on them was very very restrictive.

Set of headers and a gear swap and it’s a different car.

Now throw a cam, Intake and Holley carb on it with a set of slicks and it’s pulling the tires at the drag strip.

I’m thinking most people had the 396’s because they were a little cheaper.. always thought it was odd whenever I’d start talking to some of them about which car they hated pulling up next to that’d be one of the 1st ones out of their mouth. Chevys were notorious for being easy to work on and modify and also had a good aftermarket even back then from what I gather so basically day 1 of purchasing them you’d be in your garage changing shit out or adjusting things, setting timing and so on..

I was born in the wrong era, but am old enough to not only have owned more than a few badass classics myself, but was raised around a lot of people that had them and raced too.

The 427 was not as popular due to special order item in most cases and people not wanting to wait on it and wanting to leave the showroom that day with thier chevelle.

We had a 68 with a 427 and m22 my dad had ordered

Loved that car.

He also has a full time crew of mechanics to keep them up which makes it a whole lot easier. Old cars are cool but they’re almost always money pits.
