There are so many nods to other stories and continuities that aren't explained at all. I got all of them except the darkseid thing, but I wonder what that movie must have been like for a casual fan.
 
That deleted scene has to be Yuga Khan or Steppenwolf, I think the director's cut will show a lot of essential scenes that would make a more tightly knit narrative were excluded in favor of the Luthor/Lois shit that slowed the film down a lot and left audiences wondering what were the motivations of certain characters.

Yes it was rushed and yes things could have been done differently but all you need is half a brain and some slight knowledge of teh DC comics and you'd all realise this film is just a comic nerdgasm that should be enjoyed and we should all be excited for the next few years for what is coming.

As Kiddo716 stated that scene is a turning point for not only the film but the series as for the first time Batman looked at Superman as a human being not just some alien here to kill us at that moment the Justice League began.

I get all of that. Honestly though when you turn one of the greatest and most emotional story lines in superman history into that it's just bad. They ruined the doomsday story line and sucked all the emotion out of it. This movie was a bunch of story lines jammed into one because DC was trying to rush. I'll keep watching the movies because I like going to the movies with my GF it's what we do and the movies are good but they could be so much better.

Bingo. It's only the 2nd movie in this universe, they should have kept things simple until they revealed some of the other major players.

It's like they're trying to catch up to Marvel in one big burst, but Marvel has been slowly building their universe since 2008. When they put all the characters together in the Avengers it felt organic because of all the buildup for about 4 years. They should have built this up slowly over multiple movies instead of trying to cram everyone into BvS in some way. They haven't really explained that they're doing alternate continuities, people coming in with no knowledge of other version of Superman and Batman are coming away from these movies saying wtf is going on?

that was the big complaint we saw from critics after MOS, that this isn't the Superman they're familiar with.

It made him realize why even became the Batman, and killing someone that's just trying to do good goes against that.

Yeah, I'm no expert but I thought Gotham was a considerable distance from Metropolis. I always thought Gotham was somewhere near New York or Chicago, and Metroplis was in the Mid West somewhere, like Kansas City.

I've written a post on this subject before (pre-migration, not going to bother trying to dig it up). Having them be twin cities on the eastern seaboard is not new, with multiple sources showing them split by Delaware Bay. This location isn't hard canon but it's also not something Snyder simply pulled out of his ass for the film.

You may have some valid points, but I just feel bad for you. I wanted to like it, and I did, in spite of its flaw. Call it suspension of disbelief, childlike wonder, or just plain biased.

I just got a huge buzz from seeing B and S go at it. I'm looking forward to dc universe on screen. I hope your cynicism can lift and just enjoy these for what they always inevitably going to be.

And he could have killed Batmans 100s of times but he didn't. Batman needs to try dozens of times to incapitate Superman or weaken him to the point that he's beaten, and he can only win with Kryptonite, even if Brock Lesnar just stood there and let a 100lb guy attack him with a baseball bat, doesn't matter how strong he is, eventually Brock will go down. Also it's inconclusive whether Superman was really beaten, even with the spear I don't think he could have really killed Superman.

Nah I dont want to hate it. I still saw it after reading poor reviews. I'll admit I'm more of a marvel fan of but I do have a collection of some DC comics.

I just don't get how they thought they could throw a time traveling flash in the middle of the movie when they haven't even introduced the flash or the things he can do.

I don't get how they can cast a bumbling dweeb as the guy who plays games of psychology and intelligence with people.

I don't get how Lois was always a part of these major situations.

I might have made some cynical remarks a while back but those were mostly directed at fanny trying to put the movie on a pedestal.
 
That Friday to Sunday drop of 60% in box office is not good, this movie could have a big drop-off on second week. This isn't looking good for Warner/DC, I think critics might get what they want, and could be the end for Snyder.

Honestly, I had no freakng idea that was the flash; I thought id blacked out or was having a stroke.

I agree Facebook Luther was TERRIBLE.

In spite of these things, I had a blast; will watch again

BvS being Arthurian.... this guy is giving Snyder way too much credit. I mean I agree that Snyder tried to make something different than just "Superhero movie #4723" but like I wrote in an older thread, movie suffers from typical franchise problems. Every movie is just a set up for the next movie. It sets up things that won't be resolved until further down the line in one of the future films. That then kills the originality of the movie, waters everything down and we end up with age of ultron and dawn of justice.

Superman's coffin was empty and Clark's had the body. Even though the opposite makes more sense.
 
Saw it yesterday and thought it was just kinda there. I felt bad for parents who brought their young kids, because a good chunk of the movie was just blah and sluggish.

I don't agree with all the love for Affleck's version of Wayne/Batman. He did a decent job but everything was just so bland he didn't have much to work with. I thought this version of Batman was honestly kinda boring.

The dream sequences were nonsense and the vision Bruce had was almost embarrassingly bad.
