is that how it's supposed to work? The AG, who is paid by the American people, decides the circumstances under which he comes before congress to do his job because he doesn't like the format, which isn't unreasonable?

Regardless, I'm sure you and I will disagree on this...but it doesn't really matter at this point I guess. To wrap all this up or at least to kick the can down the road a little, Mueller has to testify. The rest is basically political theater. Everyone understands Barr is not gonna change his tune at this point, not sure why he needs to keep going up there, regardless of whether he's lying or not.

You are actually on the right track somewhat.

The goal is to destroy the ability of citizens to be able to hold politicians to account. And that erosion has been happening for a long time.

Ultimately politicians only ever had one boss and that is the citizens and if they did something wrong and feared the citizen vote they would be held accountable by peers and outed. They are not disenfranchising voters so much and making them so cynical that citizens just do not care to try to hold them to account. "Why bother, when nothing will happen anyway', 'they all do it, who cares' is the prevailing citizen sentiment.

That is fantastic for politicians many of whom are just one disclosure of something scummy being exposed. The type of thing they would have had to resign for a few years ago but now can just laugh off and ignore. Suddenly a lot of politicians worried about skeletons in their past are not so worried. Job security secured. Citizens impotent.

Trumpsters revel in him orchestrating real crimes and giving the other levels of gov't and citizens the finger and saying 'so what, you cannot do anything about it'. And that is because they cannot see beyond Trumps Presidency and how apoplectic they will be if it is a Dem POTUS doing the same thing. They are too stupid to see the larger consequences as they dance about the trolling today.

I just heard the ranking Judiciary member on the R side saying Barr didn't come because the Democrats didn't want him there lol. These guys are amazing. It's clear why he didn't show up, he didn't want to take questions from lawyers in long format. What I don't understand (really) is why the Dems couldn't just say they wanted their members to do the questioning but change the format of 5 minute segments.

lol...and just now the guy (Doug Collins) says in response to the subpeona threat "What's the hurry?" lol.

I believe representative Collins just found the new R slogan..."What's the hurry?"

I am waiting for the Directors Cut with the extended scenes as I hear its a lot better and different than what they went to screen with.

It was clear in the report though that Mueller was following OLC guidelines that he couldn't indict a sitting president, and that coming to conclusion on obstruction wouldn't allow Trump the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law, but that the report "also does not exonerate him. He then said that "the conclusion that Congress may apply the obstruction laws to the President’s corrupt exercise of the powers of office accords with our constitutional system of checks and balances and the principle that no person is above the law". He obviously wanted congress to make the call.

And that is why Mueller wrote (or at least signed;)) that March 27th letter (after talking with the department in person on the day Barr released his memo on March 24th, and sending a letter on March 25th, per what was said in the March 27th letter) saying that Barr's memo had created "public confusion about critical aspects of our investigation". In the March 25th letter he "enclosed the introduction and executive summaries for each volume of the special counsels report marked with redactions to remove any information that potentially could be protected by Federal Rule of Procedure... accordingly the enclosed documents are in a form that can be released to the public consistent with legal requirements and department policies." And that he then sent him that second letter on March 27 "requesting that you provide these materials to congress and authorize the public release at this time".

And Barr didn't do that, and then on April 9th he bullshitted Rep Crist about it:

Rep Charlie Crist: "Reports have emerged recently, general, that members of the Special Counsel's team are frustrated at some level with the limited information included in your March 24th letter, Do you know what they are referencing with that?"

But what if Mueller himself says the Barr summary was not inaccurate and not misleading.

are you having a hard time with the idea that you can technically tell the truth while being misleading? Were you born an adult? This is a behavior experienced by every child when bullshitting their parents.

But what if Jesus Mueller says the summary was not misleading?

Your stance is the Barr Summary was inaccurate or misleading even if Mueller says it is not?
