LOOKS AMAZING. Watched it 2x already. 20/10. Favorite movie ever.

I know, I know. I just find haughty plus macho to be a bit corny when you throw the cloak and mask all up in the mix. I am veering more towards a scenery chewing despot. Like if Christopher Lloyd was still young. Like what is the cast off INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS doing now that their evidence against Weinstein no longer bears any leverage? Waltz? The...other German.

I'm totally watching THE NINTH GATE and had the same thought.

Yeah, it can't be a big tough guy, but a menacing intellect/ CEO type guy. Imposing without the physicality.

i'm really drawing a blank.

They really had to do something special to make a very talented actor like Oscar Isaac completely uninteresting.

Reminds me of when TLJ was Two-Face. Even a great actor can't save a shitshow sometimes.

Isaac is another guy. Good actor, but just because he's a good actor doesn't mean his acting translates to every genre.
He's go zero action chops, I even doubt his ability to do high intensity. FOX fucks everything up, but Oscar was a miscast regardless of the writing/ directing.

Yeah great point there.

I think I would have liked to see The Rock in that role. Maybe I'm nuts, but I tend to envision The Rock being good in roles in these superhero type films but instead he's just waiting on Black Adam...

I think it has to do with the combination of being physically intimidating but also being charismatic. Like you could buy The Rock winning over the mutants that Apoc recruits for his horsemen in a way that Isaac didn't really sell. I also think The Rock would be a good Lex Luthor. He could pull off a live-action equivalent of the Clancy Brown version from the 90s animated series which I feel like is the ideal- intimidating dude who can also talk a good game and dupe the public.

Maybe I'm just a big fan of The Dwayne.

Love me some Dwayne, but....
En Sabah Nur should have been full CGI like Thanos. With a menacing voice like the cartoon.

For sure. The minute production photos were released and people were accurately comparing Oscar's Apocalypse to Ivan Ooze, I knew things were going to be rough lol.

That film was a mess. Quicksilver scene felt redundant from Days of Future Past, young X-Men did not impress, Apocalypse was a poor rendering of a great villain, and even the Jackman cameo seemed so tacked on and out of place.

I still don't get how they fucked up apocalypse...

I pretend that movie didn't happen. And hope they're gonna make another one.

Almost reminiscent of Spider-Man 3 where a phenomenal villain that seems like a slam dunk is not done justice.

I didn't hate the overall movie as much as some did, but they fucked up Apocalypse himself so bad. Fuck Bryan Singer. He's said before following the source material isn't important to him, he's just going to make whatever movies he wants and slap marvel names on the characters in them. Seriously, fuck that guy.

Apocalypse is probably my favorite marvel villain. I'm used to X-men movies not being accurate so I think that softened the blow, but I was so pissed after that movie. Thinking well that's our one shot at seeing poc on the big screen. But with Marvel getting rights back who knows. Magneto was done well imo, but all the other villains sucked and I would love to see accurate versions some day.

I like Topher Grace, but whoever thought that casting made sense should be fired. Also lol at Lowell from Wings as a villain in a Marvel movie. Still not sure how the fuck that happened.

Anyone who uses their phone In a movie theater should be waterboarded...
You use it before the movie starts if you know you have a girlie bladder. And then when you are in the bathroom you use it again to read what you missed before reentering. You don't use it in the theatre.

But here is my little pet peeve which is pointing out nothing is more distracting in a movie than people eating popcorn. It is so loud and goes on so long and would never be allowed if it was not a money maker for the theatre.

Actually the way Brolin plays Thanos also would have made for a great Apocalypse imo.

And you could see their overreliance on Magneto because they kept going back to him over and over again precisely because they got him right and did a good job. But it would have been nice to see other classic X-Men villains done well.

I thought Brian Cox did an excellent job in X2, but he's always quite good. The Sentinels were obviously effectively chilling in DOFP. But it's rough we got that bad version of Apocalypse. I've been waiting for a Mr. Sinister rendering, but after Apocalypse, I'm worried they won't do that well.

Disney has the X-Men now, so as long as they don't make Sinister a woman we're good.

However, it does throw a wrench in my casting for Mr. Sinister seeing as Ray Stevens also played Volstagg.

They butchered Toad and Sabretooth as well. Bummed me out, because I really like Sabretooth. When they set up Mr. Sinister at the end of the last movie, my first thought was honestly noooooo. Don't turn another villain I really like into a power rangers reject.

Although now that marvel is getting the rights back I see lots of potential. Do a few villains they haven't done yet, then circle back and give us better versions of all the ones fox fucked up before. Give fans a few years to forget.

Great choice!

I don't see why they couldn't do it. He was barely recognizable in Thor and it wasn't a big role.
