News Asu Almabayev Steps in Vs Manel Kape - March 1st

I've been peddling Asu for longer than any of you guys, I do not think he's better than Mokaev. He's real athletic and fairly well rounded but technically a bit lacking and untested in a lot of ways. Anyone who can stand up to Kapes power can beat him though, Kape himself isn't that great...solid but not contender level really. This is an interesting replacement.

For as much young talent as there is at 125lbs, it seems hard for the UFC to actually bake it into a flourishing division somehow. Igor Severino and Mokaev getting cut really did not help either.

I'm sure you have, but personally don't really rate Mokaev much myself. From the very beginning, so not like I jumped off the bandwaggon either. I'm not surprised he was losing to Tim Elliot before that finish either. He won though.

I don't think UFC refusing to sign or keep best talents helps at all for that cause. I'm not sure if they even care at this point. WWE baby!

Kids a winner. He's barely 24 and was a top 10 guy undefeated pro and amateur, multiple top 10 wins.

But Kape never fought for the belt
I know. But he came to the UFC as the next big thing as a former champ of another org. Never lived up to it and outside the cage was getting always in trouble with other fighters.
IMO he will not get a titleshot, even if he wins against Asu.

But with the UFC nowadays you never know.

They're in dire need of contenders at 125lbs, if he beats Asu he very well might.

You may be right. But I would like Asu a lot more.
Kape is around for some time now. If he gets past Asu with a decent win I´m not against him getting his shot. But he lost already against Pantoja. I don´t see Kara-France dethroning Pantoja but Kape´s chances getting a shot against Kai are much higher.
We will see how it plays out.

There's one Kazakh 125lb'er I dont like watching and I can never remember if it's him or the other one - judging by the comments, its probably the other one I'm thinking of who bores me a bit.
