Chandler already lost to gaethje when it mattered. Wasn't good enough for gaethje to get a title shot, despite the fact he also had a win over fiziev. Paddys best wins are chandler and Tony who Gaethje beat when it mattered. Paddy hasn't done anything title shot worthy yet. he shouldn't even be in the discussion. at all.

Both guys refuse to fight anyone unless they get a title shot. Therefore the LW rankings #2 and #5 are shut off from Paddy even fighting up to earn a shot.

#1 Islam (going to WW, never know if he'll be back)
#3 Max (injured until 2026)
#4 Olivera ( Just KO'd in 1st round, probably booked with Fiziev to give him confidence again, gone until 2026)

So Paddy can't even fight a top 5 guy to earn a title shot.

#7 Gamrot: He probably should be ranked higher and this is a good match for who should get a title shot.
#8 Dariush: Has only won 1 fight since 2022, no idea how he's kept ranked this long, still don't feel this would be enough for a title shot.

But the main issue is Topuria took no damage in his only 2025 fight and needs an opponent before the end of the year. So you either cave to Arman or Gaethje's demands which sets precedent or give it to Paddy.

Yes you are right, you would cave to Gaethjes rather reasonable demand rather than Arman who's is unreasonable and Paddy who has zero claim to a title shot at all.

the precedent set for gaethe would be if you take fights that are offered and you win them you get rewarded when you are already on the cusp of a title shot.

It's a good precedent to set.
