Media Arman Tsarukyan casually rocking a $120,000 Audemars Piguet watch

Gotta admire his drive and desire to be a top tier fighter despite having it all on a plate already.

Isn't Arman literally proof that you don't need to be poor/struggle through hardship to be an elite fighter?

I mean I would never consider being rich a disadvantage to be a great fighter for any reason other than drive.

But best training partners, coaches, nutrition, trainers. It means most families would discourage you from getting punched in the head, and it might be harder to want to push into suffering when you don't have to struggle.

If you can keep the mental toughness and desire being rich will always be an advantage.

But, but, fighter pay is too low for him to afford that...

This is literally and demonstrably true. Fighter pay is ~15% of revenue (currently a bit less) and that includes every penny - contractual pay, bonuses, the insurance plan, travel, per diem, even the stupid performance institute.

As others have noted, he likely has this and other luxury items because his family is wealthy.

.....yeah, a couple of outliers certainly puts the myth to bed.

I just said it wasn’t a necessity.

They always make it seem like if you aren’t poor and from a bad part of town you can’t have success at the elite level.

So I'm guessing his "secret move" was him pulling out last second. Must be some type of Armenian humor.

Don't think anyone ever claimed it was necessity.

Several examples of those who come from middle class or affluent backgrounds.

But yeah, most rich parents are probably not gonna encourage their children to get into the filthy business of prize fighting.

Lol what the fuck is this guy doing getting punched in the face for a living.

How you gonna enjoy all that money if you're a vegetable
Because despite the narrative, some fighters don't solely fight for the money. How can you risk the health ramifications and put so much effort into getting good at something that's of no interest to you except the pay? That's why I don't believe when people say it's only money for every fighter.

Some men are just born to fight. It's fun to them. Money can't buy the thrill of the challenge.
