Media Ariel sh*** on Jon , says he is not GOAT

It's still so cute seeing all the mental gymnastics people do here just to not have to admit Jones could never ever be the GOAT.

Funny how you never hear people going "Lance Armstrong is the GOAT because so many other cyclists (allegedly) juice/have juiced". Or "Barry Bonds being on PEDs doesn't matter because half of the NFL is/was juicing, he's the GOAT".

It's literally only in MMA where this dumb rationalization is attempted. How can you be considered the greatest at a sport if you had to cheat throughout your entire career in order to be in that conversation?
those other things you described are real sports

I don’t think PED discredit him

I believe all fighters at that level are in something.

Resume wise Jon is the goat

Goat debates are also subjective.

It’s hard to quantify a career. At the end of the day is personal preference.

Why keep talking. It’s clear he’s top three

Who ever you pick as goat is always debatable.

For me it’s GSP. But you can argue his loses and taping to strikes
Name is one other sport where ped use does not disqualify you from GOAT consideration?

aww he still thinks MMA is a sport. LOL

All other sports are a pure meritocracy, MMA is anything BUT that.

Name a sport where you can lose 2 championship matches in a row and have your very next game be for a championship. (Edgar vs Aldo)

Name a sport where if the president likes you enough you get a free championship matchup against an opponent that doesn't deserve it, simply to have them lose? (O'malley vs Vera)

MMA is prizefighting, fights are made out of interest, Not off of merit, The merits of cheating dont effect the game the same. This organization is a mafia, If they knew you were cheating but Needed your drawing power, they would not care at all. MMA is not a real sport. You cannot compare it to a real sport.

If you believe that MMA is not a meritocracy, than by definition you cannot call Jon or anyone GOAT.

BUT you are wrong , it's a sport and just because the organisation which runs it , does sometimes use discretionary match making does not disqualify it as a sport.

This is the same lot that called Ariel a weasel for years and mocked him unmercifully. Now, he's their best friend.
Helwani was always the face though during this entire ordeal. Sherdoggers and triggered, thin skinned fighters were always the heel.

The truth hurts and Helwani always brings it.

you were right up to here, it's fictional bullshit and the rest is just nonsense. It is as much as a sport as WWF. Some say hogan is the goat, Others say austin, some say cena. the only difference between the two is that the outcomes aren't scripted. Who is goat is based on performance in both cases. In every other way it's pretty much the same, with the fighters the promotion perfers getting easy paths not at all based in merit just like Cena or Reigns

Hate Jon Jones. Wished he lost every single time he fought. Fedor is my GOAT, but only because I am a fan. Objectively, Jon Jones is the GOAT.
Brosef you had me reading this shit like how drunk was I last night again? I don't remember posting none of this....

Great interview by Helwani:

GSP is so likeable #stillGOAT

The main thing I got is the conclusion that Tom Aspinall made the so called GOAT scared. This is by evident by the fact that Jones openly wanted to fight Pereira(not in his division) and Ngannou (not in his organization) while claiming that Tom was a nobody even though it would be Jones biggest fight since DC and the biggest HW fight in ufc history(according to Dana).
aspinal will inevitably lose
and he will inevitably will be a laughing stock here

people will say he only wants to fight the likes of arlovski and past prime jones

just wait

full grown men with a full grown brain can literaly check jones resume
at that age everybody knows athletes use peds
Full grown men know better than to marginialize PED use and to worship cheats.

Oh i absolutely believe it. The way fans react too... they are literally "worked" like a WWE crowd gets worked.

it's Closer to WWE than it is to any other major leauge or olympic level sport. Any rational thinking person would agree that a fight promotion is more like the WWE than it is like a sports leauge for the obvious reasons.

Any of you ever work in entertainment? The two spots you want to be are either the opener or the closer, regardless of medium. People remember the beginning and the end, the middle is mostly where their minds wander.

People will remember Jon as being the youngest champ, they'll remember the Bonnar spinning elbow and him dropping Machida like a sack of potatoes, then the middle will get muddied, and the end of his career after popping for roids, his inactivity, and ultimately his ducking of Aspinall will be the cornerstones of his legacy.

Very true. And the other part of it is that Jon wasn't the most liked guy. Besides being Jon, he had the PEDs, the legal problems etc. When fans and media don't like someone, they will make it a point to let these things linger. You had guys like GSP get heat for not rematching Hendricks and taking on Bisping and the retiring, and that was one of the most respected and liked guys in the sport.
