Are we really having zero events for 6 week?

At least we got Tom Aspinall'z eye poke controversy to hash out during teh break~

The last event for 2025 is on December 13th and the first Paramount event is January 24th. That means 6 weeks with no UFC unless they put something in later but it doesn't seem likely since they said that UFC 324 is the first Paramount event. I don't remember the last time events were spread so far apart.
They normally do 4 weeks break this time of year. They're probably doing an extra 2 week since CBS (there new partner) might already be airing a NFL playoff game Saturday the 10th and 17th.

They don't have to worry about the 24th because CBS will only air a game on the 25th since that's the conference finals

They do this every new year dude.

this extended UFC break is directly proportional to the frequency of Tom Aspinall complaining about his eye and Cyril Gane.

PFL has three events in Dec., none in Jan. ONE has a pretty regular schedule with their Fight Nights, but seem to be taking a month off (though they still have their regular Friday fights, which will tide me over).

It's pretty astonishing that there's nothing while the UFC is shuttered. Maybe KSW, AFC, RIZIN or another mid-tier promotion have something I haven't heard about yet.

I wonder if there is any big New Years event?

Dream back in the day used to be fun for wild new years shows, usually with a couple fun freak show fights.

Fedor vs some poor goofy jackass

Or Gabi Garcia vs some 60 year old 5'1 Asian grandma.

I might try to check out PFL.

PFL has three events in December. They usually deliver.

Rizin has a New Years card with six title fights, including a few big names from Bellator:

Rizing almost ALWAYS delivers. They're the best thing going in MMA right now, IMO.

Definitely going to check out that Renan Ferreira vs Vadim Nemkov fight.

Nemkov is a bad motherfucker.

But 6'8 is 6'8 and even though I'd say Vadim is higher skill level, you get hit by a 6'8 mutant and you got problems

I've enjoyed what I have seen of Rizin.

Does Rizin still allow all the fun stuff like Soccer kicks, stomps and knees to downed opponents?

hahaha I'm stupidly excited for that Nemkov / Renan fight. I hope they're setting up a Nemkov / Ngannou fight.

Rizin allows soccer kicks, stomps, and elbows on the ground. There is one org that allows knees to downed opponents, like Pride used to do, but I'm pretty sure it's ONE and not Rizin.

@Bobby Boulders is my go to guy for Rizin info on Sherdog

Can't even keep a schedule of one measly day a week. Thats why they named you joe dirt and not Nunamaker, it ain't a real sport.

You know shit is bad when were facing a shortage of watered down cards.

lulz

No-name UFC cards have a demonstrable track record going back more than a decade.

Re: thread...
What happened was UFC finally read sherdog, and they saw all the crying, and they realized that the sherdog proportion of their fanbase was actually cheetoh-farting overweight homos, and they were like "Why are we busting our ass? Let's all go on vaca for 6 weeks. Fuck 'em. "

Here's my 2026 prediction:
UFC will make bank.
People will watch.
And the sherdog gheycrew will spend every waking hour visiting the sherdog UFC forum to cry about UFC like a bunch of fucking incels who are afraid to talk to girls.

Just sayin is all.

Changeover and contracts n shit.

ESPN probably has a no compete clause so UFC is likely fairly limited in what they can say do or publish regarding the Paramount events before the ESPN deal is up.

Thus we gotta deal with a little gap.

Perfect time for a competitor to snatch up market share if any other orgs have half a brain which isn't being stored in a rectal cavity.

Why BKFC doesn't have a Mike Perry title fight booked and heavily promoted right now is kind of impressively dumb.

DBX events tend to "pop up" so maybe they can fill the void a bit. Though I am not confident their org has the collective brain power to run a solar calculator.

Glory maybe?

That stupid ass Jake Paul vs AJ fight is going to be the only big combat sport event for the time period. They might clean up.
The part about a non-compete clause doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, Dana showed up to a DWCS card which was still being presented by ESPN wearing a Paramount polo shirt. If UFC had something they wanted to announce they'd announce it.

I imagine a lot of promotions would be having the same problem though which is that most fighters don't want to be in training camp over there Christmas holidays. Plus their rosters are much smaller than the UFC's. It can be done but it would be harder to put meaningful cards together.

This means all attention will be on Jake Paul's fight.

many of the recent events have been from other, faraway venues airing at zero dark thirty for me anyway.

I will survive somehow.

Dude, spend some time with family or jerk off or something.

I say that, but I'm sure by January 14th I'll be crying for UFC 324.

Those are just the numbered (new PPV) cards. Id be shocked if we dont see 1-2 apex fight nights to start jan. That said it will probably be Garcia vs ige type stuff.

I preferred the days when it was 5-6 events per year and they were all stacked cards.

I totally get this. And I respect it.

I prefer 3.5 cards per month with crazy shit mixed in.

It's like college football: lots of duds and lots of insane sports contests with more fantastic crazy hail mary shit than NFL will ever be able to keep up with.

If you really follow UFC, you know that some of the greatest actual fights of all time have been between no name people you have never heard of.

In the immortal arfcom fashion, don't choose one expensive gun, or four cheap guns. Buy all five.
