Donohue & Levitt (he was a co-author) paper has received some challenges over the years, including a paper by Dills, Miron, & Summers published in the National Bureau of Economic Research and separate work by Sen for the BE of Journal of Econ & Policy.

The relationship isn't as clear as the popular targeted book made it appear, and more recent data seems to show teen mothers, rather than unwanted children, are the primary driver. It's an interesting area of research.

The only arguments against abortion are religious ones but if you're not religious then there's no reason to ban abortions. Especially now that they can be done with a pill.

Shrinking population in developed nations is creating all sorts of problems. Nearly every governmental service is built on the framework of a larger working population paying for benefits to a smaller retired/disabled/etc. population.

That model is about to come apart. Immigration will work in the short-term, but if the trend of development leading to decreased birthrates continues (as it has for every nation so far), there is a huge crisis on the horizon. Increased birthrights are a possible argument for prevention, would could cover abortion.

First of all, you cannot have a net zero inflation and good economy, simply doesn't work. Second of all, we've literally went from 6.5% inflation in 2022 to 3.4% in 2023 to current rate of 2.9%. So you lied when claiming that "shows no signs of slowing down"- literal actual lie, its dropping year by year, from the high that was caused by the global pandemic. At this rate we are due to return to pre-pandemic inflation rate pretty soon actually.

And another lie, we've absolutely have had higher inflation rates in the past. In 1990 inflation was comparable to the peak of covid. And in 1970s to 1980s we've had much higher levels of inflation.
