Totally TS, I mean we only have the belt 5 out of 7 men's weight classes right now....pfffff.

Yeah cause they (UFC champs) avoid the best international fighters and have fake drama pro wrasslin smack sessions to sell the fanbois.

The UFC does not =MMA

Why do you think they are trying to put DC vs lesnar up?!

What kind of ranking system puts lesnar up for a belt?

This is sarcasm right? USA support athletes like no other country in the world

Yeah right except they don't let you train MMA in public facilities...

You can't even train boxing in the park in Muhammad Ali's home town.

Its not about ranking its about butts in seats. Man you're really on a tear here its not like...never mind.

One of the genuinely better troll jobs I’ve seen on this site. Seriously.

Controversial topic. Believable narrative. Committed to the story. Incessant posting frequency to drown out alternative views.

9/10.

Yes that's exactly what I said...

they focus on fake drama pro wrestling garbage to get Butts in seats and fiddle with the legitimate ranking systems to try to present the notion that the fake wrestling match up is legit.

As long as they don't present the UFC champion has the greatest MMA fighter in that division worldwide I would say that Sports entertainment is legit however unless you want to wind up with the same problems as boxing you should recognize a legitimate ranking system based on verifiable criteria.

For those of you that don't have much experience in the fight game the history of boxing matchmaking is something you should research.

Almost CNNesque, really.

MMA will always be a niche D level sport.

Or sea level

I love it when people from other nations act like 'Murcans are awful and everyone else in the world is the gold standard for human behavior and achievement when the truth is they're just as bad or worse.

I mean yeah, 'Murca's in clear decline in every aspect but how can people from, say, western Europe act all superior when they're literally allowing their nations to be taken over by Muslims and forced into a totalitarian collective? And I've lost track of how many African/Central/South American nations have been doing the civil war and genocide thing for decades.

WELL, WELL, WELL...

It FINALLY happened...

UFC 237

Americans won 2 out of 3 international matches!!!

HOWEVER they lost a belt....

so im afraid the math is very indicative that Americans are falling behind in MMA

OR

perhaps I am one of the founders of the sport in the american southeast and warning you that AMERICANS ARE FALLING BEHIND IN MMA because of access to training!!!

I dont mind if you call me names, I kinda thinks its funny.

whats EVEN more funny is that no one ever calls me names to my face...EVER

nothing like internet anonymity to get the balls up...LOL

Just to be clear I don't "hate" America

I actually love it very mutch.

Just like a parent is critical with their child I will criticize things that make America a weaker and less effective Nation because I want the nation to improve and do better.

Don't conflate criticism with hate.

I've been professionally coaching for over 20 years, I criticize my athletes all the time and it has nothing to do with hate.

yeah...and as long as you dont to the aggregate math it looks like we are dominating...

math...simple math!!

An entire country is falling behind in a sport, because they don't have free gyms.

Fucking lol

Lol. Ok buddy. I mean tough guy.

26 years ago no-holds-barred fighting was supposed to prove what the greatest martial art was, here we are today and I think the answer is pretty clear mixed martial arts as a style is superior to every other discipline ever created however I've noticed that the United States has fewer mixed martial arts gyms then I expected by now.

I expected mixed martial arts to take over the world but today if you search for MMA on Google Maps 99% of the results will be Brazilian jiu-jitsu gyms.

Royce Gracie was a Phenom No Doubt but we don't see anybody walking into the ring in a Jiu-Jitsu Gi nowadays however 99% of your training opportunities in 99% of America's hometowns is traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

why has Brazilian jiu-jitsu dominated the the American martial arts market for so many years and it's almost impossible to find pure mixed martial arts as a style in most of America's towns?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu doesn't have video games or TV shows or betting odds like MMA however it dominates the martial arts Marketplace!

I really feel like the rest of the world is leaving America in the dust and the fact that we are the biggest country with the best technology and the best athletes and still don't dominate the grappling Sports and MMA is a bit of a cluster.

In a lot of countries the state actually has free gymnasiums where people can go train in Combat Athletics meanwhile in America all our training opportunitys are private for-profit businesses who sweat liability and prioritize profits.

don't let the UFC rankings fool you,
I don't think the UFC has the best fighters in the world I think they put on the best fights in the world there's a difference!

Dude, lay off the fucking yayo.

No. The US is doing pretty well in MMA.
There are a few reasons why bjj is a big success:
- it is effective as self defense
- it is super fun
- grappling training is less scary than striking for most people
- you don't need to be an athlete to train and to learn enough to be confident you can defend yourself. Wrestling shares the other characteristics, but I believe it demands more athleticism, which is not good for people who only have 3 or 4 hours a week to practice.

13 pages and the TS was fielding posts the whole way. I don't agree with you at all but that is impressive for sherdog.

<mma4>

Same thing happened to boxing when all the Karate and Tae-Kwon Do schools took over.

That's why all the best boxers are all Japanese and Korean. Ali, Robinson, Tyson, Mayweather, all of them.

math...simple math!!
Has this stuff been keeping you up at night? You make assertions then attack anyone who disagrees with your logic. Classic Sherdog. You went on the offensive in this thread and now you're back for more. OK Weirdo, here's some simple math for you. We have 5 of 7 Men's belts, like I said. Until TJ, we had 6, and most of the top contenders in that division (not all, but most) are from the US. That is 71.5 percent of the UFC Champions are from the US. Since I think we should count TJ until we have a new champ - because I think your assertion is wrong, your logic sucks, and your defense of you assertions very weak - that makes our percentage 85%. Hardly falling behind. Regardless of the experience you claim to have, simple math does not back up your statements. God man, get some sleep.
