Meh, being 4th in wrestling, while taking 1st overall in the Olympics by basically almost doubling the 2nd places medal count seems pretty good
lets focus on COMBAT sports.
in 2016 USA earned:
Wrestling 4th
Boxing 5th
Judo 4th
Taekwondo 14th
fencing 7th
thats pretty bad!
Not sure how you consider that bad, especially when combat sports are the least popular sports in the olympics
MMA is a niche sport in America, a sport that doesn't even draw our best athletes. And stil......

.. we hold most of the belts.
Its silly to say the country holding the most belts is falling behind in the sport.
Don't get the UFC belts confused with Worldwide MMA.
Like I said if you think
The UFC is scouring Dagestan looking for somebody that can beat Jon Jones, i
have some beachfront property in Arizona for sale.
Who cares about popularity I'm talking about pure and simple combat aptitude.
I expect America to beat the world... to be number one in everything and if it's not there's a problem.
Lol and your probably the only 1 losing sleep over it
Americans are ascending in mma if anything.
I don't know if you guys remember, but when I've started watching MMA it was all about Fedor. And Pride fc was considered the priemiere MMA organization. UFC was just a shadow of what it is now. I don't know how you did feel in America back then, but for the rest of the World there was all Pride.
Tim Sylvia was champion by the time of Fedor's domination.
And Tim was DEFINITELY not more popular than Fedor worldwide.
Nowadays it's a UFC monopoly (and there is no other rival organization outside of USA), and most UFC champions are American. With little competition from the World.
Why would I loose sleep?
AS a pro coach I love crappy fighters, they show up and with minimal effort I can RADICALLY improve them.
I look like a awesome coach just because I had better training.
I don't get it. What kind of problem is there if the US is not number one in something (anything)?Who cares about popularity I'm talking about pure and simple combat aptitude.

Lol what pro's are you coaching??

I do. The general thing is what caused me to wonder.Yeah you've got a good point there,
I don't expect the USA to be number one in everything but maybe at least one combat sport we could win at?
don't you think?
I do. The general thing is what caused me to wonder.
In mma I'd definitely expect the US to be placed high.
about 50 over the years and reading comprehension 101 a pro coach is someone who coaches professionally not coaches Pros.
However most people that coach professionally end up coaching some professional fighters, it's not your fault English is a confusing language
Don't yell at me dude, I don't know anything about it!Even in boxing!!!
boxing for God's sake!!!!
America can't win!!!
you got to be kidding me this is a new and exciting era of weakling USA!
I really believed that after the mixed martial arts debut everybody would learn how to fight and avoid BS martial arts training.
Meanwhile we still have people separating their training into 9 different skill sessions and wearing a full gi vs as they grapple without strikes.
The American corporate profit model has invaded martial arts training and it shows.
Why would I loose sleep?
