Television ARCANE Season 2 (Premieres Nov. 9)

Am I wrong to say that for those who watched S1 that S2 was the most anticipated TV series of 2024?

And the activity of this thread was quite high after the 1st Act.

Then there was almost no posts in this thread - mostly indifference - after 2nd Act dropped.

And Act 3 was released, and its been 'meh' responses for the entirety S2.

I get it; I imagine a bunch of people are "disappointed", it is what it is. I've never cared about the game, nor will I ever but if they can continue great story telling with other parts of Runeterra, I'd welcome it.

But I'm also not holding my breath, considering what the show costs, how long it takes to develop and the fickle nature of streaming.

I'm afraid of spoilers. Is season 2 as good as season 1?

"No"

I would argue it's still good and still worth watching if you want to see the conclusion of these characters' story arc.

But season 1 was a very tough act to follow.

Tx, sherbro.

Not to necessarily derail this thread, but I feel it's relevant;

I watched The Haunting of Hill House for the first time recently and went down the Netflix Flanagan rabbit hole. I've also been watching interviews from the cast and crew about Hill House.

The entertainment industry is fickle; with momentum comes increase studio input and oversight. I think streaming just exacerbates that feedback loop

Here's where I'm going to tie it back to Arcane, when you look at all of the shows that end up in the streaming graveyard after one or two seasons; then it kinda makes sense how, if the creators decided to make only two seasons, how the second season would feel rushed by comparison.

I don't play League of Legends, but through osmosis watching Arcane and having all sorts of things pop up in my social media timelines since season 2 premiered I understand that a Noxian invasion of Ionia features pretty prominently in the game's lore and ties to the backstory of one of the characters featured in Arcane.

So that could account for at least one of the plot's of those shows.

I've been watching quite a few reaction/analysis/review videos, which makes me want to rewatch the series again soon.

Season 2

First 3 eps were pretty good
2nd 3 eps were garbage
Last 3 eps were a cluttered mess

Season 2 just felt rushed, too many plotlines that weren't given enough time to breathe it made the conclusions unsatisfying.

This definitely needed a third season to flesh things out more.

Was still decent but quite disappointed.

Wait a minute, are people really confused/upset/offended about Vi and Cait being gay? Were these people paying even the slightest bit of attention in season 1? They've both been queerer than a soup sandwich since moment 1.

As for my opinion of the season so far, I'd give it an 8/10, but it could swing 2 points in either direction depending on how the last act resolves things. The fact that they're introducing so many new plot threads makes me a bit nervous. I know that they are planning on doing more series in the Arcane universe after this, but I really hope that the story of Arcane is pretty self-contained. There are a few plot points that are kind of dodgy (particularly why Cait seemed to do a 180 after being reunited with Vi), but it's entirely possible act 3 might explain things more, and in any case the high points so far mostly outweigh my concerns. For example:

Jinx becoming a "big fat hero", Vi and Jinx reconciling after reuniting with Vander, the glimpses into Vander and Silco's history with Vi and Jinx's mom, and, as sad as it was, Isha's sacrifice.
Representation doesn't bother me, but here's the problem with Cait and Vi in Season 2:

When Vi sees Jinx in prison, is subsequently trapped by her admittedly suicidal sister, and ultimately rescued by Cait; that's when they decide to have sex.

Like really? Your sister just admitted to wanting to off herself and instead of immediately trying to look for her, that's when the lesbian sex scene kicks off. That's shitty horror movie logic.

Yeah, shit was hella stupid 🤣

Need 4 or 5. It went warp speed. First 3 eps season 2 were good. Middle 3 was flat and wasted on dumb shit and a woke theme last 3 really felt like a jumbled mess - was decent the few times i knew what was going on . Best animation ever but the writers got stupid. I think k they wrote the first 3 eps same time as fist season that's why it was good.
