Apple Products are Overpriced & Overrated.

Best Buy has effectively most favored pricing for computers. Costco has the 14" Surface as well.

This would be be $899 or $999 during big sales.

And if you can stomach an even tinier laptop, probably $799 during big sales.

Microsoft stuff also tends have Total Tech deals more often if you subscribe to that for Best Buy. Like I said, unless you plan on doing work stuff, the entry level Snapdragon chips are decent enough most of the time.

The one good thing about having a chromebook is the interoperability with my google phone. Otherwise its pretty subpar. It is a Lenovo though and is durable.

I've debated upgrading my surface laptop. But I don't feel like spending $1300 on a computer if I don't need it.
from the top of my head, probably the most favorable thing with the chromebook is the passwords, picking up where you left off on the web, and no drivers.

In case you werent aware, MacOS, no drivers, pick up where you left off on the web, however passwords is a step up, two factor authentication is built in and can autofill straight from phone. It has passkey, apple relay for anonymized accounts, apple pay, biometrics, and it's TIGHTLY integrated. This one aspect is a glimpse into the interoperability between devices, and how apple compells its users to get in the ecosystem, it is integration on steroids with the power and then some of windows.

prices of older macbooks have gone to dream levels, I am on a used Macbook M1 pro with 2TB drive, and it cost me 800 bucks on ebay. It's older, but a magical device, final cut pro, old, magical. When you work with documents, legal paperwork, on the fly image shots, screenshots, screen recordings, character recognition, voice to text, the macbook is so superior to anything else, magical.

My son was a naysayer when it comes to macbook, pc gamer for life, he didnt want to go through the learning curve, and in college etc. I gave him a macbook, and it's turned him around, previously, had a high power gaming laptop that would luck around with power brick, and now, given up on gaming outside of his place, and takes the macbook around instead, for school and work. I would love to hand out a macbook to my father, only if he gives me a house <lol>

I did find out one thing that is absolutely shocking...... his android phone, a samsung, has native ads..... absolutely shameful

there are tutorials that show how to block them, but when I saw it for the first time... <TheWire1><Huh2>

he's a 70 year old having trouble navigating his phone, this is no help

chromebooks, microsoft, they're all the same with updates. I havent received updates for my windows machine in ages. With my macbooks, I can receive an entire OS update and go on about my day, it'll work. With a windows machine, I contemplate formatting the whole machine, shit is not going to be pretty with the update..... chromebooks are seriously underpowered, and works for most, but not good for advance users.
Modern day Windows Updates will literally take me several hours to download, install, reboot, clean up, get into Windows. Just looking at Task Manager internet usage while it is supposed to be downloading will often show zero internet used and there's no button to relaunch the download. The whole time disk usage and sometimes CPU usage will be at max and can't really do anything else on the computer. Ridiculous.

iPad update probably never takes longer than half an hour.

Yeah, Apple does decent business in enterprise given a lot of startups are dumb with money and just get macbooks for everyone. And the MBA is genuinely a solid value and product for most users. Otherwise, it's the 3 largest Windows OEMs.

You can spend almost half of that on a new Surface device at Best Buy, unless you really need a tablet or more oomph.
Every marketing agency husband's worked for every staff member including the receptionist has a Mac. And we're talking the big leagues like AKQA and RGA. A lot of it is the perception that ewww anything other than Mac isn't sexy enough. If you're selling an idea and a dream to a client and your company's running on Lenovo...

Preaching to my own choir again I know.

I have the 2021 Apple TV 4K and used it regularly since it came out, and now probably use it more than the cable DVR box since I got the Spectrum app for cable and especially since the new DVR no longer seems to have sleep timer and Apple TV's sleep timer turns off the TV as well as the Apple TV box. The other day the fooking power button disappeared and I thought maybe it fell inwards into the remote control since earlier it was feeling like it was wanting to pop out. Turns out it fell on the floor and apparently many on the internet had their remote power button fall out too. What a piece of shit lame fancy schmancy design. I had to fix it via painters tape so the button doesn't pop out again and be hard to find. I read someone had a 3D printed replacement button made for several bucks.

I bought a MacBook Pro for my wife like 15 years ago. It still works fine.

Show me one Windows OS and computer that could go that long without the OS shitting itself, or the hardware failing.

It's an Intel spec CPU, it's basically a Windows machine running IOS, from what I can remember....

People having problems with windows OS sound like they are still in 2007. The only apple product Ive liked are the Iphones, I just got a 14 so Im already behind. They are way too expensive.

I only use an iPhone because I had an iPod touch back in 2013. Idk. All my apps are already bought on here and I hate change.

I will say tho that Apple is a cunt. They didn’t create their products to be easily repaired. I was going to replace the battery in a 4th gen iPod nano, but after researching it I finally decided to hire somebody else to do it. And even that guy is struggling with it.
To update on this (nobody asked but I will still yap!), the guy couldn’t repair it. So I ordered another one and replaced the battery myself. I found it surprisingly easy in all honesty. I don’t get all the fuss.

For every apple product they refused to repair, apple sends them a gift card from chili's.

I'm sure surface laptops will. I have two friends with the first gen for 8 years and still going strong. I'll report back in seven years.

Also I've never owned an apple product and I'll keep it that way.

Look, I’m not saying that not one Windows computer can last more than a few years.

But I do work with the Windows OS, and have rarely seen that. The OS often has problems within a couple years. Problems that require more than just rebooting.

My Mac, and any other Mac I’ve owned, has never required more than rebooting. It is just a much more stable operating system, though not ideal for enterprise computing.

There's some fixit website that often shows with pictures how to fix stuff from phones to video game consoles. It helped me replace the PS3 laser, but you still lose track of which screw goes where. I put the wrong screw somewhere and disc drive or something didn't function. I ultimately put it back together in working condition.

Overpriced for sure but the technology is top of its class. Went to college for film production and we used Apple for the classes of editing and such. I’m used to Apple products versus PC. I’m sure both work well

MacBooks are good. Android has better phones and features for significantly less than an iPhone. I can charge my OnePlus in 30 minutes and the battery lasts 2 days.

Idk man I switched to Droid and have massive regrets. Can't even air play to a TV. And the auto correct is shit.

All I’ll say is this……

Before Apple products my life was one big technological hell of bugs, updates, reinstalls, and an ecosystem that was confusing and lackluster.

Apple like Glock is not the flashiest or best. But it’s reliable and literally the aftermarket caters to it. So whatever.

Your TV doesn't let you cast from device? What TV is it?
