My TRANSition was in 2014/15?

Wife and I both had OLD OLD phones. Iphone 2 or 3 maybe? I think this was post charger and "battery drain to force an upgrade" debacle. We had not updated the OS forever. Then it automatically did it and pretty much bricked the phone because the phone didn't have enough memory.

Lost my shit.

Just upgraded from an S21 to the S25+ 2 weeks ago. Love it.

Idk man I switched to Droid and have massive regrets. Can't even air play to a TV. And the auto correct is shit.

You cast over as long as its a google capable tv, if you haven’t switched your appletv, you won’t have the magic…. Appletv is really fantastic as ling as you have an apple device controlling it. You can always switch back, don’t you miss Apple key? There’s a few items that use them, home key + car keys = no keys to carry around, and it’s great.

That's definitely not right. Hisense TVs, for example, are Google TVs by default. They have built-in Chromecasts. Vizio TVs support casting. It's ideal to be on the same WiFi network and band (2.4 GHz or 5GHz) as the smart TV. In my experience, the support for Google casting is broader than for airplay.

So the iPhone must Airplay to the LG. It wouldn't the Fire Stick.

I'd suggest looking into third party apps for casting to the screen. I still have a Fire Stick v2 or v3 somewhere in my closet, but I haven't used it in years because those things suck. FireOS is the absolute worst. I hate that OS maybe more than anything else I've ever used.

Watching my dad try to activate the QR pic on his phone or figure out how to alternate the camera back to front or even create a pdf file out of a picture is goddamn impossible.

His local Tmobile store might pool their money and have him killed. A 90% deaf 80 year old shows up in their store without his hearing aids trying to get someone to help him with his phone. I can only imagine.

Reading some of the earlier comments in this thread are comical.

Some people pretending that you need to reinstall the OS every year or how they had a laptop only work for 2 years while a macbook works for 15 years.

First of all you don't need to reinstall an OS once per year and even if you do have to reinstall Windows, the process for the last ten years is ridiculously easy , quick , and simple.

Second of all , nearly all computer hardware these days last for years. Windows 95 - XP days had mechanical drives that would die out, cd roms , and shitty CRT monitors. Solid state rarely if ever dies, nobody uses optical media, and even the cheapest monitors these days will last 20+ years. You really have to abuse your machine to break them.

People replace laptops because new and faster technology comes out and they want the latest. 10 - 15 years is an eternity when it comes to tech. If you are wanting a machine for longevity then purchase a used IBM or Dell Optiplex for $200 and it will last 10+ years and will be able to run Office and surf the net which satisfies most of the market.

Apple makes high quality products , but the price versus value is the worst. It's similar to buying a designer pair of jeans for $300 when you can buy the equivalent or even better non designer jeans for $50.

Yes, I said it. I have been a computer user since 93. Still remember old school dos prompts and dismantling/upgrading hardware. I can safetly say that I never ever understood the appeal of apple products. Sure, it does have its pros, but people act like they are superior product when that is clearly not the case.

I believe people easily buy into hype and marketing. I believe people sucker themselves into following what everyone else is doing. I just cant believe that people drop obscene coin into products that are NOT technically or practically superior.

Iphones are incredibly overpriced comparView attachment 1097360ed to their android counterparts. Apple computers are nowhere near as versatile or cost effective as their pc counterparts.

The argument is that pcs or androids are more prone to attacks. Ok sure. How often does this happen? Barely anyone these days tell me about how their pc or android got compromised. I do however hear....hey bro, can you help me transfer files or get such and such app on my fab apple device.

I feel as though apple tech is the biggest rip off but one of the best marketing strategies we have ever encountered.

Some of their stuff is decent, like MacBook Pro's. Some is utter shit, like AirPods max. Some is okay but way way too pricey, like their screens (those are literally LG screens but cost a lot more).
The problem is, their competition is usually shit either.
Iphones actually cost less than top Android phones so I don't see that argument really.
THeir computers still exist because some of the popular software runs on MacOS, and because windows computers are all over the place.
When I wanted to buy a rather powerful laptop with a good screen, that does not weigh a ton and has decent build quality, it was pretty much MacBook pro or bust. Companies like Asus have 9000 models of laptops cannibalizing each other's market shares, and good fucking luck finding the exact model you need at your local retailer. Asus with an OLED screen would have been slightly more powerful and slightly better at showing colors for the same price, but I could not find the exact model I needed and I could not wait for a month for it to ship. So I got Apple.

The difference these days isn't that big in value. You're undervalued just how good Apple silicon is and what that means for the average user.

I had a free trial of Apple Music and let it expire. Without the subscription, it should have let me access the songs I purchased via iPad, but only some did and I noticed what Apple Music recognizes as what I purchased and lets me play on Apple TV differs depending on if I browse by artist, by album, by genre, or whatevers. Each view should let me add a song to playlist, but it doesn't. Seems like sloppy programming.
