Anyone see Weidmans latest ig off?

Never understood how people see it this way. Weidman checked a leg kick. It’s not his fault Silva’s leg broke. He did what he was supposed to. It’s not like this guy is Palhares who legit tries to rip peoples legs off.
Personally I feel like it’s the way he celebrated that makes people feel it was Karma.

Cuz walking and weight bearing on a fresh fracture is clearly the intelligent thing to do. It’s actually a great way to ensure your leg never heals, possibly getting it amputated
Are we agreeing or disagreeing?

I remember saying he needed to fuckin CHILL and people got on my case.

All i know is...i really hope he keeps the leg..and calms down from his rehabbing for abit..

It would be terrible if he loses that

He said on Bispings podcast that there was a chance of it not healing due to lack of blood flow to that area, or something to that effect. He might never fight again from what I understood.

wouldn’t that be crazy, Uriah hall both Silva’s and Weidman’s final mma opponent.

He's of the mind set that if he can train it's getting better, i have no idea why he hasn't got anybody telling him the opposite, stay off the fucking leg, follow the doctors instructions to the letter, stop trying to be captain America.

I know people like him just want to prove everybody wrong, especially through hard work. But I still think he needs to retire before he even begins to rehab his leg.

Understandably, Chris Weidman is a flyweight by our standarts (not 8'4), however still let's remember, the boy is huge. Even if he didn't train, his misplaced bones in the leg would still fracture under his weight. It is just a continuation of his previous injury.

I remember seeing that IG or whatever post of his showing him back in the gym only like 6 or 8 weeks after it broke, and thinking what a terrible idea it was. This is why you don't go back to any form of fucking combat sports training until you're medically cleared... or at least close to being cleared.

Didn't he start training when it was still up in the air whether he was gonna need an amputation ? I get that the doctors recommend activity to get blood flowing at certain points but Christ man go for a walk or some shit rather then train...
So true, far to eager to get back in. I would try and retire from here, try ad make some revenue from his podcast or do UFC events.

LOL. I hope all those "Wow look at how amazing modern medicine is." comments were worth it for him. Anybody with a brain could see this coming from a mile away. The very real risk of amputation wasn't even gone yet and the guy was already going way overboard with heavy weight bearing training. Unbelievable.

You're 100% right, but Pros are a different type of animal. That's why they make it that level.

Anderson was telling him to take it easy and not rush it in their podcast

Guess he didn't listen.

Tell me, is it a fucking coincidence that this guy has had 24 surgeries, mostly on the same damn injuries multiple times? How many times do you see alarming stats for a fighter like this?

There is a clear pattern here. Weidman has no idea how to take care of his body. He gets wrecked, doesn't listen to real doctors and makes it worse.

Orthopedic Surgeon Here. Let's review
(I did not see the original xrays so I am only commenting on these)

1.) Buttterfly fragment- so what. Some studies have shown a decrease in healing with those fractures initially, but he has a nail in. Performing extra surgery to remove the butterfly fragment is absolutely stupid. It is waaaaay too early in the game to know if he is going on to a non-union (6-9 months is the accepted answer for that), so that sort of conjecture is pointless.

2.) Fibula fracture- a double so what. Big debate whether to fix them at all initially. If he had it before and they didn't fix it, definitely no reason to do it now. If he got it in training, again, so what. The fibula bears very little significant weight of the lower leg. If it's painful to him now, yea then sure, slow down the training. But to go back in and cut him open to fix it, on a non weight bearing bone? No way.

Overall I see very little concerning things here other than he may have pushed it too hard early. But nothing a little rest might not fix. Waaaay to early to even be discussing potential second surgeries.
Other than that, the hardware looks good, and I see nothing too concerning on these few radiographs
