Any old school EverQuest players here?

3/4 seru down, hardest fight by a huge margin so far
I finally sucked it up and bought a bane Aug. Will be trying this week. 4/4 is supposed to be Quarm difficulty, so should be fun.

Going to start trade skills soon too. Really good guide on the discord

Quarm down.

Dropped Bracer (nice.) Legendary hoop of speed ($) and prismatic ring, pretty much about as good as it gets save for all of it being legendary, lol.

Made a bard/sk/wiz, Got to 65 in no time and close to 2k AA (each alt is easier than the last)

Absolutely busted how strong this is.

Good for bossing or just swarming? Tempted to make one as well to for grinding AA down to alts. My current bard is no joke, but heard a lot of great things when paired with a Wiz.

Also, haven't been paying to much attention to stacking stats and have just been equipping good gear. Wanted a click haste item for my war/pal/MNK and did the eye patch of plundar quest line. Took me 45 minutes.

Started doing some testing to see if it would overwrite the small Pal haste. They both stack, but no increase. Remove both buffs, no change in Haste. Remove all of my haste gear.... No change in Haste, still sitting at 85%.

Look at my world buffs, and see Echo of Power is 70%. Started doing some research and didn't realize pretty much the only thing that can boost it is v3 over haste. Bard is gonzo and can boost the shit out it, but seeing now I can adjusty spell line up since they don't all stake up haste.

Both, its insanely strong and good dps too. resist debuffs, slows, snares, free mana dd (saryn's scream) and multiple heavy damage PB AoE spells. Sk is just there for mortal coil, fear/stun immunity and machine-gunning baby lifetaps, lol

Playing casually while working and just finished the necro epic, been gathering pieces and working on all the epics as I find them

Had been working on my alt and got bored of grinding AA and went back to my Bard.

It was a rough go getting back in to the different buttons and mappings. Once I got it all dialed in, picked back up in the elemental planes and finished up PoF. Got trounced in my last run and just got complacent. Did another go and just never bothered trying to debuffs anything and the mobs before Fenin Ro had a pretty beefy haste buff. Once I debuffed them, they went down pretty easy a long with Fenin.

PoA took FOREVER. Could have done it faster but detoured to hit some of the raid mobs and got garbage loot to show for it. Had to gate on the first go with Xegony at 10%, just ran out of mana. And pets went down. Second go went more conservative and stayed back loading up DoT songs and only went in for melee when her slow wore off. Tried a few things to remove her Wing of Xegony slow, but couldn't peel it off.

Bleh, just finished up the plane of water. I hope thats the last water zone I ever have to navigate. Wasn't nearly as bad as Kedge Keep navigating, just glad I went through with my pet build. Would pull agro and spin around trying to see what was attacking, just to find the way above/below my line of sight, and by the time I got into position to actually land some hits, the pets had mostly dealt with them. Finally just started tabbing targets and just letting the pets do all of the work.

Event to activate the Avatar of Water was a huge pain. Obscene amounts of HP and me just watching the life bar slowly drop waiting for refresh timers.

Finished my druid epic now too (my sham/nec/dru has all 3 epics, lol)

I think i have every dot clicky I can use now, lol.

Sycthe of the Shadowed Soul
Spear of Fate
Nature Walkers Scimitar
Demi Lich Skullcap
Zevfeer's Shroud of Despair
Shissar Deathspeaker's Staff
Orb of Clinging Death
Ossein of Limitless Time
Blade of the Tempest
Rosrak's Greaves of the Primal
Miragul's Greaves of Risen Souls
Bone of Bertoxxulous
Sporecaller
Elder Spiritist Vambraces

Hoping to clear PoE this weekend to finish up he elemental planes and access Time. Ruling expected next week and it could be the end, or it could get extended for months while they sort through all the mess. Keeping my fingers crossed but have filled my cup and ready to let go if needed.

Reddit thread has the DBG responded to THJ response.

Official response:

Short version from one of the posters:

The short version:

Daybreak argues that THJ is unlike other emulated projects due to how it's monetized and positioning itself as a direct competitor using unauthorized assets and IP. It's pretty much what we already knew, but they plainly layout their case and support it with evidence to show that projects like Project1999 and Quarm operate quite differently than THJ, and thus they are not bound to pursue legal remedy against *all* emulated servers, just the ones that behave in the manner that THJ has.

There is little hope that THJ survives this lawsuit, even with the fringe notion that DBG will bring them into the fold as an official server option. They actually reference the fast-paced nature by which THJ's version operates by stating, "*Defendants have also made every attempt to steal Daybreak’s customers by giving them an unauthorized “God mode” version of the game that allows players to burn through content at an unhealthy pace*." That line to me suggests that DBG doesn't align with the idea of a mostly single-player version of EverQuest in which you just power through content at a breakneck pace. If that's their position, I wouldn't expect to see an official version that replicates this concept anytime soon.

Not looking good #sadface

For one I think that establishes a difference in aim/intent of the player base and the server and two, "healthy" is having to poopsock farming progression keys for weeks on TLP's and quit your job to raid? Lol DBG is delusional if THJ gets shut down nobody is coming to play live. Point in fact more people will probably quit out of spite.

This just feels like "they are doing something different that people like and we hate that because its popular with old school players who we think will come back to live with that same EQ zeal if we shut it down"

I talked today with someone from my old guild on TZ from 20+ years ago for a few hours today, ill be so mad if this gets shut down.

Word. The only reason I even considered coming to EQ THJ was the fact it offered an ability to progress without groups, casually play at my own pace, and experience raid content I never had access playing.

I remember when I was single and started working full time and trying to hang with some of my guild mates and falling way behind just working 40hrs a week. Throw a wife and kids into the mix these days, and DBG vision of what EQ is supposed to be just isn't in the equation. Have had the most fun in the last 3 months with the THJ than I've had gaming in a long time. I will be heart broken if this gets shut down.

I have been doing some research on what I might head over to next if it does get shut down and came across another EQ EMU called Imperium.

Balanced for 1-2 players (allows for up to 2-box) up to Omens of War, with an additional tier targeted for raiders that seems like group content. Has some other interesting features like a prestige system once you hit max level 80 and have completed the epic 3.0, you can send you character back to level 1 keeping the non class AA, and turning the epic into a clicky AA. Each character can also spawn in and create up to 2 bots. From reading it sounds like they stick with you and level up and can be geared out. Running a 2-box you can round out a full group.

Sounds interesting, but boxing is a pita, I dual and tri boxed for years and its so hectic sometimes, lol

Yeah, if THJ is done, then I am until something as accessbile opens up later.

I do enjoy DBG highlighting all of the problems with their game, and then blaming THJ for being succesful not doing those things.

Pretty much. I get protecting your IP but their heavy handed response is going to kill them outright.

"Hey someone made something that shows how much people love what the game used to be and has drawn people back who havent touched the game in decades, AND it is more accessible to casuals? Shut it down!

I would literally pay a sub fee to play (this exactly, not some bs watered down version)

Definitely.

But they survive off Krono, and there is no Krono to be had letting folks solo the game and play like this. And they do not want to risk the loss.

I 2-boxed on live years and dipped my toes into 3-box, but that absolutely wasn't happening. Was enjoying it for a time but with a young kid at home had to put it away when the exp slowed way down when I got into the 80's or something.

I never got into WoW, but there are a few solo based servers that are interesting as well. The most interesting one I'm tempted to jump over to is Synastria. They have a mechanic that you can equip a new item and attune a portion of its stats to you permanently. I read it's slow to start, but you can solo raid content after you amas enough stats.

That sounds pretty dope to me, and encourages you to play as much content as you can to build your stats rather than rush to end game or twink an alt.

Fun little interaction/triggered event I forgot about but just remembered today:

If you agro Tunare in plane of growth without clearing the zone, first she teleports to an open area in the middle of the zone. If you agro her again, she summons literally the entire zone to protect her, if it doesnt teleport to her, it runs to her and If you are a bard, you are effectively immortal with rune songs and if you are a wizard you can then use dimensional shield (no cast interruption) and then chain cast your pbaoe spells and kill the entire zone in like 5 seconds. Its like UP but doesnt take 15 minutes to pull everything, everything gets pulled for you. Instantly.

Its 21AA's and about 12k plat for maybe 15 minutes of work, 10 of which is looting corpses... lol.
