News Anthony Pettis leaves the UFC

I need to have this handy whenever someone quits the UFC :D

UFC is ridiculously cheap. But understandable. He probably won’t become champ again so no point in paying him more than the $8k/8k these new kids are fighting for.

I remember when he was on that Wheaties box back in the day. He was Dana’s golden boy.

Kinda sad to be honest...one moment you're favorites...next thing you wake up packing your belongings...

This is why Gegard Mousasi is one of the goats. He basically destroyed everyone on his final 8 fight deal, a 90 day negotiation period ended in mousasi leaving on his own terms cause the UFC were to cheap to pay the best middleweight in the world ( at the time and in his prime) a reasonable bump. He main or co mained every UFC fight outside 200( where he knocked out the enormous thiago Santos in 2 minutes).
Its 2021, 18 years clean and still one of the top fighters in world at 35.

Didn't he get wrestlefucked by Clay Guida in his UFC debut?

<TheWire1>
Yes, Clay was 11/4 with an online bookie and I backed him! You could say the blueprint was there way before he even made it big.

I remember watching his UFC debut when I was 12 and was a fan from the moment I saw that Showtime kick highlight. Have a good post-UFC career Anthony Pettis

I remember betting against him when he faced Benson in WEC for the title, and then watching it all unfold and crash down upon me with that flying cage roundhouse.

I hope Coker finally sends a message that he’s not gonna be used n abused as a Dana negotiation tool... and offers Anthony less money than ufc was paying him.

Coker needs to start only offering more money than the ufc to people who deserve it.... as opposed to people who just used coker as tool to hang over Dana’s head. The days of fighting in the UFC in your prime and then expecting to jump over to cokers for even more money once you start getting old n over the hill needs to end. These entitled people think they should get paid more as they become worse at fighting. Coker needs to send the message that “no more.” He needs to only try outbidding the ufo for fighters who are still in their prime.

You could see it coming, thanks for the highly entertaining prime years Showtime!

This I feel is a bad cut. But it's all about money so I figure he has a better offer.

When you break it all down everything is about money.

But I like Pettis and think he can still make a run

Bellator already signed Romero, Rumble, Machida, Davis, Mittrione, Fedor.... They don't have deep pockets like the UFC does. At some point, they can't afford all the UFC's cuts. My gut feeling says that's now. I think they broke the bank for Romero and Rumble, and what value does Pettis add above them?
They can afford anyone that Viacom is willing to pay for. Who with a name have they actually passed on? Not many

I don’t see why? I like Anthony, but at the end of the day all they are getting is yet another UFC cast off.
Adds depth to the roster. He's still in his early 30's and not completely over the hill yet.

Pettis absolutely brought it every fight, he's one of the few that I'm just as excited to see standing as when it hits the mat. Best of luck and I hope you get the air time you deserve going forward.

Pettis is one of the richest fighters in UFC history. His contract was astonishing. He made a ton of money in his UFC stint.

the reality of the business world or any job for that matter.

so if you find a company and management that truly value you and you feel appreciated stick with them!
