News Anthony Pettis leaves the UFC

This I feel is a bad cut. But it's all about money so I figure he has a better offer.

When you break it all down everything is about money.

But I like Pettis and think he can still make a run
The ufc has an exclusivity period after the contract ends. He can’t have a better offer yet, unless they let him talk to other orgs first.

When's the last boring fight the guy had? I don't like the cut. I get it, but I don't like it. He's not totally washed, and not horrendously overpaid.

Does he make a little more than he's worth? Yeah, I'm assuming that is the case (I'd be curious to know what the ufc is using as a metric for this kinda thing).

But he's not prone to having some tedious fights like Romero was, he's not prone to knocking off viable up and comers. He's a guy who could headline a smaller show without fans raising much of a fit.

Can't say I like this one

Now my Wheaties box is worthless!!! JK, never bought into the hype that he was the next big thing

With the cuts coming maybe he’s jumping before he’s pushed

Anthony was just too small to beat the top UFC guys at 170. He could compete at 155 IMO but he would have to bust his ass physically.

He about to rock some sick wheaties short for his next fight.

Maybe he realized that he is declining too fast and didn't want to go on another string of losses to people with no name. Pettis has all the skills but his brain can't fire off the same as it was when he was subbing Bendo. Duke still hasn't been able to correct Pettis' problem of being walked down either. Its kind of a smart move because now he can get sponsorships again, get paid almost the same and fight lower competition, increasing his chances for bigger paydays. Good for him.

Ufc fighters get sponsors, and have a much, much larger social media platform and following than guys in other orgs. They lose on fight week sponsorships but sponsor / pitch all over social media. Ryan Bader has 133k followers on instagram. Pettis has 1.4M, literally 10x as many. Lima has 220k. Pitbull 107k. Poirier 1.8M. That is $.

and they let him exit on seemingly his turns so it looks better for him and improves his future negotiations with other organizations

he fought out his contract

he gets paid a good amount

he's just as spent as any of the other high paying guys they've let go

they said, we're done with you but feel free to exit on your own

Thats what everyone says everytime someone leaves the UFC and it never happens.

Except Bader, who ironically nobody said that about
Rory. Moose. Davis. Horiguchi.

not sure who the big flunkies were. Bendo?

if the point is they don’t dominate, I don’t think most were expected to. Bellator has some good guys at the top.

Seems to be a mutual agreement, now wether UFC even offered a contract to sign is unclear, but there seems to be no bad blood and they parted nicely.
