News Anthony Pettis leaves the UFC

While he isn't the Pettis from back in the day, he still kind of found his stride again recently. I'll still watch him fight, just hoping if he's signed by Bellator that we don't get him vs Benson, fresh matchups please.
Would have to be the first time in history two guys fought each other in 3 different promotions.

NVM. Rampage and Wanderlei.

Everyone knew he was gone despite him saying he wanted to make a LW title run and fight Tony. He took the short notice fight cause he wanted to end his contract quick. His manager probably had a deal with PFL or Bellator before that fight even happened.

At this point his best days are def behind him, he's more top 15 gatekeeper than a contender, he's gonna want to be paid well and UFC is in process of letting a bunch of guys like that go.

The writing was on the wall.

He was sort of like Chandler in Bellator, fought everyone, been a company guy forever, been world champ and theres nothing more to do there. They leave for different reasons, Chandler still has more left in the tank than Pettis at this point and wants big fights to be the world champ and Pettis wants that big final payday.

Where he ends up will determine what kind of fights there are for him, PFL he could be a favorite at LW but the bigger fights are in Bellator. LW is wide open without Chandler and maybe they finally do something with that title instead of letting Patricio hold it for 2 years. He could fight Patricky, Jury or if he stays at WW you have MVP, Daley, Larkin. His brother is there and he's alot younger than Romero who they just signed so Bellator seems like the logical fit.

I think this is a really smart move for Pettis. Respect him and his team even more for being realistic about where his career is and what would be best for his legacy and health and wealth.

Man, be prepared to see the fucking show time kick for the 10000th time and more in the next couple months.

But man UFC said they were purging their roster and they weren't lying!

LOL @ this

Pettis is 2-0 in the last 10 months, so I bet he wasn't satisfied with what Dana was offering him to re-sign and figured he'll be making ALOT more money over at Bellator negotiating with a two back-to-back wins.

Kinda funny how the 10 year anniversary of his Showtime kick was just a week ago, and now we're seeing the possibility of a Pettis/Bendo 3rd fight.

Personally although Pettis won both of their fights I think a third fight would be very interesting.

Who would be showing the showtime kick?

Damn wish I bet on this to happen. Had the insider scoop

Kinda deflated by this actually. Enjoyed his fight at the weekend. "ShowTime On, Telly On" has been my motto for the past decade

This dude was always paid so well.

Doesn't surprise me that UFC don't want to keep that gravy train flowing now that his contract has expired.

When he said he was moving down to 155 and going after the belt he meant Bellator XD lmao

He was one of my favorites...always rooted for him even though his best days are behind him. He's one of the few that was able to blend TKD into MMA.

Perhaps the most entertaining in-ring fighter in UFC history. Will be sorely missed.

Wtf, it will really become U Fight Cheap where only the guys who ask for least money fight..

Is his contract done ? Are we sure Dana will let him leave ?
