Another one...smash burgers

Smash burgers are fantastic, seems like you're just looking for something to bitch about

I like you.

I’m grumpy about lots of stuff too, but I’m not brave enough to start threads about it on Sherdog.
embrace it, all these turds who get offended at someone complaining about new shit, they need to be told to fuck off

someone is actually moaning about the fact i have made this thread, and saying we dont cook food as a family...fucking oddballs everywhere

Get the fuck out of here with this shit, just smashing a burger so its so thin its is barely edible and then throwing a mountain of shit on top of it(why do people use so much salt on everything)

Thank fuck my kids have brain cells and actually eat at places that serve decent food so we can dine with them without hiding our faces

They're ok if you have more than one burger

2 smash burgers with a big ol slice of cheese in the middle. It's a manly meal...... I eat 5 of them b/c I'm a sherdogger of course.

They're a bit overrated. Didn't those burgers originate from CA? Innout burgers are sorta smashed...

Bastard makes some nice ones IIRC

I am in full support of a TS's rant here. I went through a smash burger phase trying out all kinds of methods and recipes. Nothing really tasted that good. Then one weekend when smash burgers were on the menu I was feeling lazy and just said fook it I'm just gonna make normal burgers. After two bites of juicy deliciousness I said goodbye to smash burgers forever.

Smash burgers rule.

In fact, I would take a crispy lace edged smash burger (or Oklahoma smash) double over a single thick patty anyday of the week.

Bonus points if you make them yourself on the blackstone.

Use a cast iron that's hot, smash the burger and already have some thin sliced onion under the meat, then continue like normal, it's really good like that .
Gotta salt and pepper the meat ball and smash at exactly right moment. We make a horseradish based burger sauce too.

Why am i the only one here who doesn t know what a smash burger is?

i've honestly never had a smash burger. what's different to it from a regular burger in terms of taste? is there any?

You know how when you sear a steak you get that delicious golden brown crust? That's because of the Maillard reaction, which is a chemical reaction that occurs when you heat up amino acids (proteins) and sugars, like those found in meat, bread, et cetera. It's why you cook a steak on a grill or flat top instead of boiling or microwaving it.

A smash burger is a burger that's smashed flat on the griddle in order to greatly increase the surface area of the patty, which in turn greatly increases the amount of golden brown deliciousness. The idea is that the outside of a cooked burger is the tastiest part because of that Maillard reaction, so with a smash burger the whole patty is carmelized instead of just the outside. And you would typically put at least two patties on the bun.

They're very tasty. I don't know if I'd say they're better or worse than a normal pub-style burger, but they're definitely a great alternative.
