So far my favorite mangas now:

1. Saint Seiya/Saint Seiya: Next Dimension

2. Bastard!!

3. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

4. Claymore

5. Sailor Moon

6. Dragon Ball / Z

7. One Piece

8. Berserk

9. Hokuto No Ken

10. The Breaker

Note that I haven't really read that many mangas. So it might change soon. Just started Cage Of Eden and Dorohedoro.

SS Next Dimension>The Original so far though.

Gemini Cain is too badass.

I've been trying to get into anime lately. I loved Samurai Champloo, mainly for the style and the dialogue. I would have liked more plot development and more character growth. I tried Blood +, Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop, Balsa, and Ghost in the Shell. Now when I say tried I mean I watched an episode of each. Except Cowboy Bebop which I watched four episodes of. Nothing really has impressed me so far. Which of these shows should I give more time?

I considered Legend of Galactic Heroes and Eureka Seven. I want to watch something epic. I want a story to weave together and blow my mind by the time the conclusion rolls around. And I want characters I can like. I can tolerate a few assholes and idiots but if it gets too melodramatic I'll lose interest.

Any recommendations? I'll apologize in advance, I realize y'all must get a lot of recommendation threads in here.

Welcome to the thread

Watch Code Geass because
A) It has diverse characters
B) A different storyline for the most part that combines a lot of elements, high quality ending
C) Soundtrack
D) Animation
E) JIBUN WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It is very popular but a lot of people hate it sort of like the "Big Bang Theory".

Thats the pound for pound top two in that category.

God I hate those two so much. Just want this to happen to them:

I don't think Naruto will be successful unless Sasuke gets killed off. Also for Itagaki I hope he suffers the type of beating that makes a fighter extremely punch drunk and he kills himself for it, its the perfect ending for him, for all of us.

Death Note.

even eating potato chips is epic.

You need to finish Cowboy Bebop... No excuses.

Also I think you might like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Greatest mech anime of all time IMO.

P.S. Watch it in Subbed not dubbed.

It's not bad dubbed.

Also I wouldn't suggest series' that can only be enjoyed in the original audio to people just getting into it.

So far my favorite mangas now:

4. Claymore

8. Berserk

I know this is a personal opinion, but did you seriously just rate Claymore over Berserk? I just don't see how that works...

That is the correct answer to that question. I wish japan didn't have such a love for these d-bag prodigy type characters.

Never got into claymore , the story isn't all that great and the cart to me is overrated.

Isn't it odd that Japan loves the prodigy types , while america prefers an underdog at least I do anyways.

You guys are wrong: Itagaki is the man. I dont care for him being a boxing genius, but he is hilarious. Whole family gets me dying of laughter.

DAMN!!! You guys REALLY fucking hate Itagaki huh.:icon_lol: I'm kind of neutral on prodigy characters as long as their interesting and preferably not arrogant, smug, condescending, douchebags who see themselves as being greater than everything else around them and not needing anyone. There have been a few prodigy characters I've liked a lot though.

Edit: There's actually a trope for this called, Insufferable Genius. I ROOT and PRAY for their Epic Failure!

I also find it hilarious how Aokimura are always getting separated into the loser group, by Takamura. But then Takamura will turn in his compatriots in the elite group as soon as they make a minor slip.

I saw, I think in Blade of the immortal , a manga character say "itadaki matsu" and I immediately laughed and said aloud "itagaki matsu!" I don't understand Japanese at all but I love puns and the editors usually translate the itagaki family puns. Gets me every time. Takamura, too.

It's a sort of short prayer before eating that roughly translates to, "Thank you for this meal" or "Time to eat up" or any other such equivalent.

You know what i hate about Hajime No Ippo now? Once i got my training in boxing, i kept thinking to myself "wait, that isn't right" whenever the characters fights. Really killed the mood for me.

Of course there is a trope for it lol. Probably the only Insufferable genius I like is Hiko Seijuro , Kenshin Himura's master he is extremely strong and cocky but it is done in a style where you know he is trying to be obnoxious rather than unintentionally, like shit characters like Itagaki and Sasuke
