Hey Flythai, since I know you're a fan of HSDK and with Ogata showing up in this chapter, what do you think , I'm leaning towards Ogata trying to recruit Takeda trying to appeal to the fact that Takeda is pretty much playing second fiddle to Kenichi as far as Miu is concerned , that is one of my theories, of course that Takeda could reject it and stay loyal to Shinpaku though. Also I think that since Ogata is the Yomi master featured in this arc, I think that Akisame gets featured as the Ryozanpaku master since to me he was the one that was the most pissed off that Ogata experimented on Ryuuto's Ki Nature and it resulted in his Paralysis.

here is a small list of my top anime shows.

DBZ - obviously
ninja scrolls - another obvious one.
samurai 7
basilisk
crying freeman
samurai deeper kyo
hajime no ippo
blade of the immortal
samurai champloo

and my favorite without a doubt that every fan of MMA should watch (especially the second season) is

GRAPPLER BAKI

The last chapter of space bros...

LMAO awesome. Really underrated and under appreciated manga IMO. I have never been bored for a single moment with it. Right now I'm on chapter 93. Would have been farther but I had trouble locating what websites had it past chapter 87. I've also purchased several volumes. One of the rare occasions where I do want the physical collection of a manga. Also recently purchased some figures and the OVA DVD. By far one of my favorite series of all time.

Dark Schneider is easily in the top 10 most bad ass anime/manga characters of all time.

This arc in HSDK has been absolutely outstanding! I have been on the edge of my seat. I've been mad that Takeda never had his big fight yet and has been pleased so far with his current fight! I'm loving it. The appearance of Ogata is a mindfuck! Now I want to see what he is planning.

I don't think he would ever betray Ryuzanpaku, (Hermit already did in a way), he is too close to Kenichi and has a crush on Mui (Honey in his words).

And I agree. akisame is long over due for some competition. (his last fight against the Sambo master was not competition lol). So Ogata vs Akisame absolutely have to happen. You're dead on there Heavy

How do you rate this arc Heavyarms?

I just finished catching up with the recent releases of Baby Steps. Anybody who likes sports series should check it out.

It's a figurine. You see his brother holding the companion figure in the space station a couple chapters before that.

Maybe I missed something, but why is it a mindfuck? The three people he's been training are all there, so why wouldn't he come to observe?

I see Akisame's showcase fight being either against the big-tittied ju-jitsu lady, or Miu's father (they were close friends). And honestly, I'd expect him to lose both those fights.

Any suggestions for a good anime movie for basically an absolute noob?

Something I could watch with my girlfriend?

Just about anything by Hayao Miyazaki would work:
Princess Mononoke (my favorite of his, but it's got more violence than any of the others. It's not gory, but it deserves the PG-13 rating)
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Nausica

A badass One Punch man gif I stumbled upon:

OPM.gif

Genos is just dumbfounded by OPM's strength and reflexes. I started my regime of 100push ups/sit ups/squats and running. Gonna get dat KO powa'.

Not a big fan of Grappler Baki. The original OVA was quaint for it's time, but when the series came out and I was able to see the tourney it did nothing but turn me off. The match between Katsum Orochi and Roland Gustov in the Maximum Tournament shows Orochi going into a one-handed hand stand (while his opponent is fully locked on his other arm dangling in mid-air) to escape an armbar. I watched both series all the way to the end, and was left with a complete "WTF?" feeling. My wife (who watched it with me) refers to it as "That stupid fighting show with no ending."

I wouldn't be too hard on Grappler Baki if the Manga wasn't so horrible. Itagaki is like the mangaka equivalent to Rob Liefeld. For as horrible as their artwork is, I can't believe how successful either of them are. Both have exaggerated figures with fully-flayed physiques that are totally anatomically incorrect, and both have quirks that just stick around and never go away.

Grappler Baki makes me appreciate HSDK a lot. At least I know that Syun Matsuena actually has not only a more complete set of knowledge of Martial Arts, but is infinitely more competent in actually portraying it on page.

BTW - For a much better example of MMA in manga, find some chapters of All Rounder Meguru (or even Teppu). Baki doesn't hold a candle to the two.

MAJOR LOL.:icon_lol:

Lol that list only works if his gf is Palmela Handerson..

Some of those like Bible Black are pretty fucking disturbing and grotesque from what I've heard so I don't know about that. As for recommendations, yeah pretty much anything by Miyazaki is great(I'd also recommend The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars). I would recommend some slice of life anime and maybe a few comedy ones like Love Hina, Azumanga Daioh, Kimi ni Todoke and the sort. On the aside there's FMA: Brotherhood, One Piece, Naruto, Fairy Tail, Bleach, etc.
