I don't think he thought he would win. He didn't call for the fight as far as I know. He was supposed to fight someone else and the guy pulled out, they offered him Joshua. I think the thing is he didn't want to tuck tail, so he accepted it.

That's why I wonder if Paul had become delusional. There's been little evidence of any respectable character traits from him, ignoring people that think that utterly shameless self promotion and narcissism are respectable traits (clearly a lot of them in some places, looking at American politics). I certainly don't think that being a complete fuckwit is just his "social media persona".
On the other hand, as pointed out by others, it was a very large paycheck.

Jake did call for the fight ( literally ) .

Joshua wouldn’t go purposefully seeking Jake it’s just not realistic, the other side would have to had present an offer to him .

Jake is a very delusional person but that’s why he’s created a name for himself, bf the fight he was talking to Eddie Hearn in the last presser on how he beat great fighters and he wasn’t even joking , the notion of how a fighter sees himself or perceives himself is usually greater then what they actually are and Jake proves that .

I’ve looked at them ,he fights with his chin up in the air and open defense, I’d personally give him a 5 out of 10 he looks like the average guy at the local gym I don’t know who he’s fought but I don’t think he’s good at all I’ve seen guys on here that look better and they don’t even really fight .

Either he got really lucky match making , lucky in general with the wins or he’s fought some very average guys he looks comfortable fighting guys half his size I think that’s why he probably lost this one he’s not used to actually big guys even ones who can’t fight ?

Honestly he fights like Gumby a wet noodle who flails all his strikes including his kicks , he may throw a short compact punch on occasion but looks to me he’s never actually learned any proper skills , if he wasn’t as tall he’d be even worse bc that’s his one attribute he uses to actually step away and use his reach but he sucks imop all you got to is pressure him and it’s hook city .
