So,, for years the dude is # 1 on the P4P charts, breaking records left and right going 16-0 in the ufc with many amazing finishes being considered the GOAT.. Then BAM!

He has now not had a W on his record since 2012, his fight against Bonnar.

Dude loses his belt in devastating fashion, getting clipped on his chin as he is doing his "clowning" routine trying to outclass Weidman but backfires causing him to lose the fight and his belt.

The second time around.. he is given a second chance as he WAS 16-0 prior and he was being stupid in the fight - so hey, maybe he'll fight right this time and come out with a W?

Wrong.

Instead he gets this:

Damn. That's some bad luck huh? Not taking anything away from Weidman, it was a beautiful check.

Anyways so the guy finally gets two loses on his record the first time ever tasting defeat in the ufc. Surely he will bounce back some degree right? Well let's find out.. lets get him to fight Nick Diaz.

Well.. great! looks like he's back to his winning ways, right? Get's a UD victory over Diaz. Once again, wrong. Guy for one reason or another decides to take banned substances he's says to treat erectile dysfunction - but after suffering a devastating injury surely it had something to do with that. Not only that but many people speculate as to former PED use, calling his legacy a sham. Fight is chaged to NC.

Well.. now, he fight Bisping. At first he doesn't look very good, he is not attacking very often, Bisping is landed many shots. Then, BAM!

End of the round 3, he KO's Bisping! YAY! The Spidar is back!!

But..wait. no. The fight is, NOT OVER! An issue regarding Bispings mouthpiece causes Herb Dean to decide that the fight will indeed go on, what does Silva do? He starts celebrating, very happy that he finally has a clear win again and jumps on the cage to embrace the crowd. While doing this, Bisping is given a ton of time to recover during the confusion and if Silva would have just SAT AND WAITED, MAYBE, the fight would have been called. Pure speculation but what happened was two more rounds.

Some say Silva went on to win these rounds, but to the judges it just wasn't enough. Bisping walks away at the end with 3 rounds to 2 and becomes the first man to win a fight he was KNOCKED OUT IN.

God Damn. That's is one hell of a streak of shit luck.

Can you think of any other fighter that has has such terrible luck? Yeah, this was all his fault but you got to admit.. the circumstances of his last 4 fights are strange indeed.

I used to watched a Silva fight and think in my head, "Okay, how is going to fuck this person up?"

Now I think, "Ok, how is going to fuck this one up."

EDIT: People are taking the "LUCK" term a little to seriously, I didn't mean it that literally so changed thread title to "Misfortunes". More of what I meant. So now, can we discuss the content talked about rather than the terms used to describe said content? Thanks.

Lol he's a fraud and deserves it all now (not the leg, but the tarnished legacy)

The only other guy I can think of with as much bad luck is Dominick Cruz.

But he seems to be getting some momentum back finally.

he didnt KO bisping

bisping was not unconcious and was saved by the bell not herb dean

anderson wouldnt have had time to land another shot even if he wasnt trying to celebrate

literal definition of saved by the bell

and silva then went on to completely give away round 4

nothing unlucky about it, just anderson being an idiot

None of that is luck.

Okay, since people are taking the "luck" phrase a little too seriously... I didn't mean it that literally.

Will change it to Anderson Silva's misfortunes. A better term to describe what I meant.

Just, shitty things happening in non-conventional methods.

Well, "shitty" depending on what side of the fence you are on.

Many people could say it's "well deserved". But that goes over to my point, even the way people talk about him now has changed so drastically. If he retired after the Bonnar fight, his legacy would still be inhuman and in tact. Perhaps GSP got out while the going was good for a good reason. We still think of him as an elite GOAT. Silva? Opinions vary drastically.

All of these but the snapped leg were completely his own doing and completely avoidable.

Let's take a moment and remember just how great this guy was.

agree TS.
The only other person that can relate is Barao.
undefeated for 10 years...
Then gets caught and fight basically on auto-pilot.
Then loses to his own bath-tub
Then a very odd/poor showing and a rematch with TJ...

The only misfortune was his leg snapping in half and even that was partially his fault for not setting up his kick. Him clowned in the Weidman and Bisping fights, and took steroids carelessly before the Diaz fight.

Can you think of any other fighter that has has such terrible luck?.

Theres an old saying, "you make your own luck"

Im not sure i classing taking PED's as "unlucky"

Although it could be argued that considering how bad the testing was historically, he was "unlucky" getting caught.

But then maybe he was lucky never getting caught before?

Outside of the ring Jon Bones Jones has had some pretty shitty things happening as well, but since they are crimes his stripping of the title he earned and defended and never lost was justified.

The UFC is still giving him a chance to reclaim his belt, despite continually fucking up outside of the cage. Guess money solves most problems.

Yea, my heart totally goes out to that dude.

All of these but the snapped leg were completely his own doing and completely avoidable.

He threw the same telegraphed kick after Weidman had already just checked it hard. He did it full force despite wincing after the previous time.

Seemed avoidable... he just didn't adjust to Weidman coming into the fight with even more answers than the first time they met.

And no, changing to misfortune makes no odds as the dictionary definition of "misfortune" is "bad luck" :D

Lets take the steroid thing. Taking steroids is not bad luck, or misfortune.

tripping over, and landing arse first on a hyperdermic containing steroids, now that, would be misfortune.

The Bisping fight was one of the best things ever to happen, cause it makes it so easy to spot the people on the verge of being delusional in bias towards Silva

Apparantly now you get knocked out as soon as your legs fall under you, head never touching canvas and arm immediately up to defend yourself

Sure, it was technically avoidable. But even after the wince on the first kick, I don't think anyone would reasonably expect the Mr. Fantastic rubber leg on the next one.

Some shit is just freaky bad luck.
