Anderson Silva's incredible misfortunes.

Don't you know? Anderson was still obviously trying to heal a broken leg a few weeks out from the fight.

(Seriously though....Anderson got caught in his 1st random test. He was likely using throughout his career. I don;t hold it against him much personally though because before random testing the overwhelming majority of fighters were using. Pretty laughable to see people being so naive though)
Like who?

Rich
Loving family
In the top 5 GOAT discussion of anyone with a brain
Champion into his LATE 30's!!!!
F@ck's on the first date...

Yeah, no...

He got older and slower after a great career.
Then he lost a few. I don't consider that do be extreme misfortune.

Theres an old saying, "you make your own luck"

Im not sure i classing taking PED's as "unlucky"

Although it could be argued that considering how bad the testing was historically, he was "unlucky" getting caught.

But then maybe he was lucky never getting caught before?

Or maybe he didn't take them before?
You don't know. But if we question that you'll probably get mad and call us nuthuggers.

To the contrary: I would call going undefeated so many years while being pretty one dimensional and actually limited quite fortunate. Not many people stay on top of such a shallow division for so long.

Man, Sherdog needs a "hate" button bad. Snakes is coming out they mouth sideways at my boy Anderson. I'd give 'em "hate" for sure....

I spotted venom on the floor of this thread. I need a hate button, quick!!

This is why he loses a lot of matches:

So,, for years the dude is # 1 on the P4P charts, breaking records left and right going 16-0 in the ufc with many amazing finishes being considered the GOAT.. Then BAM!

He has now not had a W on his record since 2012, his fight against Bonnar.

Dude loses his belt in devastating fashion, getting clipped on his chin as he is doing his "clowning" routine trying to outclass Weidman but backfires causing him to lose the fight and his belt.

The second time around.. he is given a second chance as he WAS 16-0 prior and he was being stupid in the fight - so hey, maybe he'll fight right this time and come out with a W?

Wrong.

Instead he gets this:

Damn. That's some bad luck huh? Not taking anything away from Weidman, it was a beautiful check.

Anyways so the guy finally gets two loses on his record the first time ever tasting defeat in the ufc. Surely he will bounce back some degree right? Well let's find out.. lets get him to fight Nick Diaz.

Well.. great! looks like he's back to his winning ways, right? Get's a UD victory over Diaz. Once again, wrong. Guy for one reason or another decides to take banned substances he's says to treat erectile dysfunction - but after suffering a devastating injury surely it had something to do with that. Not only that but many people speculate as to former PED use, calling his legacy a sham. Fight is chaged to NC.

Well.. now, he fight Bisping. At first he doesn't look very good, he is not attacking very often, Bisping is landed many shots. Then, BAM!

End of the round 3, he KO's Bisping! YAY! The Spidar is back!!

But..wait. no. The fight is, NOT OVER! An issue regarding Bispings mouthpiece causes Herb Dean to decide that the fight will indeed go on, what does Silva do? He starts celebrating, very happy that he finally has a clear win again and jumps on the cage to embrace the crowd. While doing this, Bisping is given a ton of time to recover during the confusion and if Silva would have just SAT AND WAITED, MAYBE, the fight would have been called. Pure speculation but what happened was two more rounds.

Some say Silva went on to win these rounds, but to the judges it just wasn't enough. Bisping walks away at the end with 3 rounds to 2 and becomes the first man to win a fight he was KNOCKED OUT IN.

God Damn. That's is one hell of a streak of shit luck.

Can you think of any other fighter that has has such terrible luck? Yeah, this was all his fault but you got to admit.. the circumstances of his last 4 fights are strange indeed.

I used to watched a Silva fight and think in my head, "Okay, how is going to fuck this person up?"

Now I think, "Ok, how is going to fuck this one up."

EDIT: People are taking the "LUCK" term a little to seriously, I didn't mean it that literally so changed thread title to "Misfortunes". More of what I meant. So now, can we discuss the content talked about rather than the terms used to describe said content? Thanks.
Actually bro, when Hughes fought Newton the first time they actually had to wake him up and tell him he was the new champ. It was ridiculous

People are so easy to forget how hard it is to go undefeated for as long as he has it's silly.

Incredible misfortunes. Dude was one of the top 3 most successful and winning champions in MMA history. He has not experienced a life of trials and tribulations. He just got old and if fortunate to still be able to fighting. What, is he like 41 in April. He is not suffering incredible misfortunes.

Correction. He is the most successful and winningest champion in MMA history.

He win 4 titles in 2 weight classes and racked 13 title defenses. The only fighter with more belts won is Couture with 5. And no one has defended their belts 13 times...on any level. The next closest are GSP, Aldo, and Faber each with 9. Then Jones with 8. MM, Ronda, Hughes, and Gil are next with 7.

Anderson is far and away the most successful and winningest champion of all time.

he didnt KO bisping

bisping was not unconcious and was saved by the bell not herb dean

anderson wouldnt have had time to land another shot even if he wasnt trying to celebrate

literal definition of saved by the bell

and silva then went on to completely give away round 4

nothing unlucky about it, just anderson being an idiot

Since when was unconscious the criteria for a knockout? The majority of ko's are not unconscious.

I feel like his first fight against Okami should be mentioned, disqualified for one of the most spectacular KO's in the sports history, because he wasn't informed properly of the rules.

All of these but the snapped leg were completely his own doing and completely avoidable.

The leg break was both Anderson and Wiedmans fault. It wasnt an accident. Silva said he felt his leg hurt or popped before that happened in the first round. He should have stopped throwing leg kicks. Chris checked that kick perfectly. If one of those things changed than his leg may not have broke that fight.

I think Anderson was illuminati and the deal was that when he fell from greatness, he lost it all. Someone once said they felt a demon presence when fighting Anderson. I believe it. Lol

We always praise guys who fight through injuries, or throw punches with broken hands. Anderson felt pain in his leg. Even with pain in your leg, you don't really expect the Corey Hill to happen. That really is a low-probability worst-case scenario.

What the flying fuck? The way any normal human being would see it that Bisping pointed out to the ref that he has lost his mouthpiece. Most fighters usually stop at that point, no matter if the ref is confirming the timeout, just out of good sportsmanship.

What Anderson Silva does, as we can very clearly see in the slow-mo replay, is notice Bisping's vulnerability and trying to take full advantage of it - going for his jaw, with no regard that without the mouthpiece, that may result in permanent disfigurement.

That's pretty fucking rotten in my book. And it shows that Anderson was not good enough to get the job done during the fight, so he tried to take advantage of a situation that happen when the opponent offered no resistance.

Now I can't say I particularly like Bisping, but in that fight, Anderson behaved a lot worse. And since I've seen a lot of unrespectable behavior from him ever since he became champion, I can't say that I feel any pity for him for anything that happened to him whatsoever. If you do, you need to have your Stockholm Syndrome examined.

Defend yourself at all times.

When guys break thier hands in fights they typically dont keep whinging punches as hard as they can either.

When a punch lands to the face we dont expect it to shatter the orbital bone either. But it happens.

Anderson knew his leg hurt and ignored it and made no adjustments. Chris kept checking the kicks to gurt and dissuade Silva from throwing the kicks. Worst case scenario happened but there was no luck involved.
