Media Anderson Silva or MVP…. Who has better striking?

To be fair while those weren’t good fights fans were mostly upset because we had watched Silva obliterate some of the toughest guys in the division so those fights kind of felt like he just wasn’t trying. He set a pretty high bar for himself.
Aren't we saying the same thing?

Anderson is a level or 2 above MVP - not worth comparing .

George was an aggressive fighter and it didn't matter how the other person decided to fight, he steamrolled them. Anderson was doing the opposite.
Lol what a fantasy.
Silva was finishing people.
Only two opponents he took lopsided decisions as most in GSP tittle run

Anderson is many levels above. Much more accurate and a way better finisher, they are both very fast and slick. Anderson had more weapons as well, he threw many punches, leg kicks and body kicks and knees, MVP only throws punches, and head kicks, they both do an occasional spinning attack. Anderson was just much more impressive

Memory is short? That fight is from 9 years ago...I think you're just behind on the times.

Citing fights from Obama's presidency. Yeah...he's real lethal. He "almost" killed a can from a decade ago.
Yet, you have no problem using Andersons fights from that same time period as an example of his skills?

Anderson is definitely the more skilled and accomplished striker of the 2. But don’t pretend MVP didn’t almost kill a guy because it happened 9 years ago.

Can't believe how much Death Sentence has improved since he started training with DJ.

You said Georges was an agressive fighter, as "opposed" to Silva.
Just ridiculous. Get out of this online forum and wake up

MVP almost murdered a man in the cage with his finishing power.

For awhile, Anderson also refused to engage anyone who wouldn't fight the way he wanted them to.

He was the champ. He isn't required to jump into peoples guard. He was also a notorious counter striker.

In addition, your entire point is bullshit. Anderson had 13 finishes (2 subs, 11 KO/TKO) out of 15 fights from 2006 (beating Franklin for the title) to 2012 including all his MW title fights and LHW fights. That's an 87% finish rate fighting 2.5x a year, 12 title fights and 3 LHW fights. Anderson's incredible 6 year run is unrivaled and had more highlight reel finishes, and frankly, a better mixture of dominance/extraordinary skill than any other fighter in history thus far.

So sod off with the revisionist "for a while, he refused to engage" because he wouldn't jump into Maia's guard ffs.

Flying heel hook?

The flying scissor heel hook that happened just prior to Anderson going 17-0 in the UFC? FYI, that happened in 2006, and Anderson was 3-1 in 2006.

Sorry but their careers and just as easily their skillsets are not comparable in the slightest.

He shit out three performances awful enough to briefly make him the most hated person in the sport. Dana actually apologized to the fans and promised to make it up to them, that's how bad it was.

The thread is about .......
oh, you're right, no one specified MMA. Anyways, I thought MVP won that match on points. Meanwhile, Silva was getting knocked down by Jake Paul.

Ironic you're defending MVP with that claim. He has some boring fights and lots of lulls trying to impose his style as well.

As for Anderson, I believe he finished like 11 out of 13 opponents in title defenses. The fact people bring up the few fights he decided to clown around isn't indicative of most of his fights.

48-year old Silva lost to a HW sized boxer half his age who's done nothing but train in boxing full time the last 6 years.

Meanwhile MVP lost to Mike Perry who was only a couple of year younger, lol.

The way MVP just tooled on Cannoniner got me thinking he’s the most difficult guy to deal with on the feet.

Who’s better in a stand up war, Anderson Silva or MVP?

silva is no doubt much more rounded, but I think even Silva has trouble with MVP striking.

Cannonier couldn’t touch MVP on the feet and Cannonier at least didn’t look silly in front of Izzy.

Silva is way better imo
