Anderson is 1 win away from a title shot.

No, he at least needs to more wins and that giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Everything he did earned him one rematch, but not two. Maybe if there wasn't a backlog of contenders that would be considered, but Machida/Mousasi winner is probably up next and the Jacare/Carmont winner will be one fight away.

If Anderson comes back they'll probably give him a easy fight like Bisping, Rockhold, or maybe even Wanderlei.

Hopefully Bisping... and fighting Wand would just be weird. I know they have their differences but I can't see that one actually happening.

No he doesn't. Fine, he got the rematch because of all the GOAT talk, but no, you don't get an immediate rematch twice. Too many guys gunning for the belt now to be giving out a 2nd rematch to a guy who got KOed and then his leg broken by a perfect check. If he's that hungry, beat a couple of guys first and prove it.

This. And this thread is filled with crazy nuthuggers who think he can come back and get a title shot no problem, no, he's in Rich Franklin territory.

He's probably one loss away from getting cut aswell

Needs 2. But if he doesn't want the shot no amount of wins is gonna get him one.

The last fight with Weidman wasn't a conclusive victory IMO.. The fans deserve to see a 3rd fight.

You must not like Silva. I think Silva never sets foot in the cage with Weidman again. What would Silva's mindset be?

  • He's KOed me
  • I can't kick him
  • I haven't been able to hit him
  • My magic "Matrix skills" don't work on him
  • I can't bait him
  • I'll look like a tool if I clown him
  • I haven't been able to beat him in the clinch
  • I can't go to the ground with him
  • Crap, what am I going to do in the cage with Weidman?? Tell him a joke and hope he taps because he's laughing so hard????

Nope not a chance, in 9 months or longer when he returns Jacare, Machida and Vitor will all be in line for shots at the title. The landscape of the devision will change a lot by then and he is coming in with ring rust, recovery from a brutal injury and back to back losses. Bisping is a good call for a return fight

Andy never wants to see Chris in the octagon again. Same way Franklin has no shot against Andy.

Good new for Andy is he is on the tail end of his career while Rich still had many years left

It's not a freak accident when the leg check was intentional.

Right. That's why we've seen dozens and dozens of broken legs in the octagon. Oh, hmm, wait, seems like it's happened a whopping 1x before in the last 20 years (and 2500+ fights).

We see broken orbital bones, broken hands, broken feet, all the time. How often do we see the rubber leg? Two times EVER.

Let's not pretend anyone ever breaks their opponents leg on purpose. Percentage wise it's got a failure rate in excess of 99.95%.

Fights check kicks like that to hurt their opponents leg (in the sense of causing pain) to get them to stop throwing the leg kick. Nobody ever thinks they're going to snap someone's leg in half doing this.

Even I (a huge Silva fan) wish that Weidman had gotten a more conventional win so we wouldn't have to listen to this stupidity for the next several months. He'd already gotten a flash KO in the first round and looked like he was headed in the direction of winning the 2nd fight when this freak accident happened.

Now we'll get a thousand threads either saying it was a legit win because you can break legs on purpose so easily with a knee spike or that the whole fight was not legit because it was interrupted so early by the accident.

Worst.Ending.Ever.

Weidman beat him fair and square, twice. But this second time was a freak accident that took place. That being said Anderson is definitely coming back. He's already asking where can he train. http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/12/...d-to-return-to-training-in-six-to-nine-months

That being said, do you think he will get a title shot after 1 win? I think he definitely does. And he will get a relatively easy fight when he comes back.

Bro Concheeto,I think he definitely does. And he will get a relatively easy fight when he comes back.

Anderson will get a crack at the title immediately if he chooses to do so. He's earned that right.

He's already used it up, sorry guy. Is he supposed to keep fighting weidman till he wins? Let weidman be done with silva and build his legacy.

Disagree. Silva gets an immediate shot if he wants one

If he managed to come back from that injury, an impressive win would make a Weidman III possible. It has appeal in that so many people view the last fight as a fluke.
