Alternative Pyramid Theories

Exactly my point. When are scientists ever 100% correct about anything? Most of the time the scientific community looks the other way though as long as it conforms to the orthodoxy they've established. If it falls outside of the rejected norms, the assailant becomes ostracized and turned into a pariah.

The late Dr Velikovsky was not an astronomer, astrophysicist, or geologist though, he was actually a psychoanalyst, but because he was willing to step outside the boundaries put in place by the academics of his time he was able to uncover some very compelling evidence for things that have happened here on earth which are quite anomalous.

There is no substitute for the role played by people like him. I am totally with you on that. This happens today quite often as well, Graham Hancock is probably going to end up being vindicated in his theories on the antiquity of civilization, and he had to go through a hellish bombardment by orthodox academia back in the 90's when he released Fingerprints.

No, I'm saying Egyptologists are wrong, and clearly wrong. I'm not saying I know the answer to anything.

You've made many of these pyramid threads to date. I guess everyone needs a hobby, but really you've never offered any convincing alternative. You just post a bunch of fringe youtube videos which fail miserably when held to the same scrutinity as you hold the current concensus to. So what's your deal man? Do you just get off on being a contrarian or do you actually plan on having an actual stance on this besides "you're a sheep if you buy what they want you to."

I have been extremely clear why I disagree with the academic view. I don't think you're a sheep...I think you're just taking the consensus view at face value without really understanding why that view is held.

And what fringe video did I post? And I've explained an alternative that is both logical and backed with evidence.

And if they brought sand into the pyramid they could use this technique all the way to the top. I'm curious how they transported water. Large tanks or thousands of tiny pottery containers?

Wow dude, I hadn't even thought of that but you're absolutely right. And wouldn't that fit in with the interior ramp theory? Holy crap, maybe THAT'S how they built it! Did we just solve how they built the freaking pyramids?

And the relief that I remember seeing showed them using pots. And if I had to guess, they could have just lined up men to the (at the time, nearby) river and transport pots the way people line up to move sandbags today.

Loving the enthusiasm:)

I meant that as a statement regarding it having to have taken MUCH longer than 20 years...which if it did basically throws out the tomb for Khufu theory...as if the fact that no body has ever been found contemporary to a pyramids construction in Egypt wouldn't be enough to laugh away the tomb theory on any pyramid anyway.

because modern estimates by modern limestone quarry officials in Indiana (the place where the empire state building got it's limestone) have stated that it would take them at LEAST 20 years, at three times their current capacity, with all their modern equipment, to cut and move the stones...which doesn't even account for actually building the pyramids.

There are 2.4 million blocks of stone in the Great Pyramid, it has a 13.5 acre foot print, and it weighs over 6 million tons. Most people have a hard time really wrapping their head around exactly what the great pyramid is in terms of its scope.

That's 12,000,000,000 lbs for you mathmagicians out there. Think about that. It's got the same amount of stone as 30 Empire State Buildings...that is outrageous.

Thats it then. The chinese must have built it.

Hey TS, what do you think about the other pyramids on other side of globe like Teohtihuacan? That place is massive as well. I am sure it is heavier and has more stones than the Egyptian Pyramids.

They have plenty of pyramids on Chinese soil now that you mention it...not sure about the one on the bottom right...the others are legit. The Chinese government basically tries to pretend they don't exist by planting trees on them. Not sure what that's about...

Haha hey, in my experience, there is nothing mayberry can't figure out.

Next on the docket: What was the antikythera mechanism used for?

hmmm...gonna go with a navigation tool of some sort. Would be pretty funny if it was just an alarm clock.

Abu Simbel > The "Great" Pyramid
Every show about the pyramids mentions it was cased in lime stone and would have glowed. None have every shown a reproduction of that. Why hasn't someone made a scale replica?

I love how people get work up by these pyramids. My phone is more amazing than any pyramid ever built.

Your phone is pretty amazing, and built by a machine. Now if someone using the tools accessible in the bronze age built your phone...that would be incredible!

this isn't some magical effect...polished, smooth white limestone in the sun will blind you if you look at it directly for too long.

and no, Abu Simbel is nowhere near the feat The Great Pyramid is...neither in design, precision, or amount of time spent to build it.

for perspective, Apple would go bankrupt trying to build the great pyramid to it's actual specs. Just for some perspective.

The Great Pyramid was a great engineering marvel, but it's a building and that's it. There's no writing, nothing. It's just a couple of rooms and hallways shaped like a triangle.
Abu Simbal has hieroglyphs, statues, etc. Hell, I'd rather see the Temple of Karnak or Memphis than the Great Pyramid.

Fair enough.
