It's not just getting old, it's racking up losses on your record. You can use getting old as a excuse, or you can just say they are slow, had poor reflexes, or don't have a chin. Is it really that different than some other guy who loses because they are slow, have poor reflexes, or a poor chin?

I don't think anyone should get a break for fighting while they are "old" they choose to fight, no one makes you, the result of your fights are included as part of your legacy, and if you have losses to people that are unranked and look horrible losing to unranked people, you shouldn't be GOAT.

Okay, we can agree on that point.

As for your main point, MMA training & fighting typically ages a fighter much faster. Some fighters are in their early 30s but have so many miles & beating on their body they're already past their primes.

But at that point they're established in MMA, possibly with a title reign, do they stop? Or do they do what they know to do and keep fighting for semi-big paychecks? Win or lose? Because they're married and with kids to feed?

Hell, look at Glover. He was in his mid-30s when he was beaten by Jones & KOed by Rumble. Should he have given up then, so avoid staining his legacy? No. Because he never should have become a champion.

I'd say give 'em a break and the respect they deserve.

A lot of people don't consider Khabib to be part of the GOAT conversation because he left too soon, and I agree, it should be a reflection of your entire career and Khabib's wasn't long enough, but if it's too long, it should also negatively affect your legacy.

Khabib was more dominate than all the goats you listed, but no ped's, greasing or losing.

How can you be considered the GOAT if you're not fighting the top competition at the end of your career? Name 1 person DJ has fought in the last 5 years. Name 1 other fighter you listed thats fought 2 fighters in the last couple years that don't even have Wikipedia pages.

You're not even following your own criteria. You reject Fedor, but accept Aldo. Aldo went on a 2-5 stretch in the last couple years and is 11-7 since 2011.......Fedor only has 5 losses since BigNog beat him in 2004. Those 5 losses were to Werdum (HW Champ), Antonio Silva (HW Champ), Hendo (3 division champ multi time champ), Bader (2 division champ multi time champ) and Mitrione. Saying Fedor lost a bunch of fights at the end of his career against shit competition is not even close to reality. Mittrione is literally Fedor's only loss to a "non-champ" in 23 years. Aldo also went down in weight to continue his career. Fedor has fought bigger men his whole career.

Fedor has 47 fights and won 8 champion fights. Cejudo has 18 fights and won 5 championship fights. How can you possibly put Cejudo over Fedor?
 
Look at boxing, is Rocky Marciano considered the best HW ever? not really.

The difference is that in MMA the hype is pro wrestling style shit and much of the fanbase believe it, whatever the UFC is selling right now is the best ever.

I didnt vote in your GOAT poll because as we all know, there is no such thing as a GOAT....but if you changed it to something realistic like FOAT..."favorite" of all time then it will be Fedor...but there is no such thing as a goat. Unless there is objective criteria which can be tabulated its just a popularity contest.
 
I notice that I don't see any more talk about Usman being in the 170 GOAT conversation with GSP. I guess after Usman lost to Leon people think he's no longer worthy of being in the conversation. But that's just bullshit. Usman has never, nor will he ever, lose to someone as bad as Matt Serra. Leon is legitimately one of the best fighters to ever fight at 170, while Serra would struggle to crack a list of the top 100 fighters to ever fight at 170.

I mean just look at the numbers. That was Usman's first loss in 7 title fights, whereas GSP lost 2 out of his first 3 title fights.

No matter what happens, Usman is absolutely still in the convo for goat at 170. If for no other reason than not losing to a fighter as abysmal as Matt serra

Usman would need to win the rematch, and add a few more title defenses before overtaking GSP
 
GSP's considered the WW Goat over Marty because of what he did AFTER that Serra loss, not to mention the loss happened when GSP was 26 years old, he hit his prime after that when he moved to Jackson's and changed his style to be more safe.

That loss to Leon happened in Marty's prime at 35 year's old, can he bounce back and rack up 5 title defenses? I seriously doubt it.

because you know, a fighter is only as good as his worst loss right.
