All Time GOAT poll

Ali's prime was before his suspension; he was never the same fighter afterwards. He completely changed his style (giving up most of his footwork) and became a great champ again, but post-suspension Ali would never have won against pre-suspension Ali. Of course Ali is probably the most talented heavyweight ever in any combat sport, so he's an amazingly high standard to reach.

I agree Fedor was past his prime when he started losing. But Anderson too -- his fighting prime doesn't coincide with his athletic prime. GSP was arguably in his prime for the Serra loss, though as you say he avenged it.

Beyond that, athletes in all sports have bad days. Jordan had bad days. Gretzky had bad days. So why is it odd that fighters have bad days? A loss or two is just, a bad day.
It's not bad, it's just that when you start talking about the greatest ever you have to weigh those things.

It's Anderson Silva. Just because he's older and lost fights doesn't mean anything to how amazing and unbeatable he was in his prime.

The results:

35.8% got it right. Good job, boys.
27.4% got it ok. Not a bad answer, but one answer was still better, IMO.
Less than the half of the voters got it wrong.

jyou guys have the nerve to call him the goat but not jon

You do realize that GOAT is completely subjective, and arguing about it is like arguing about the best flavor of ice-cream (which is black cherry obviously)? So it takes zero nerve to say GSP or Anderson or Jon or even some local guy who's 0-5 in amateur MMA is the GOAT, because it depends 100% on your criteria.

You clearly disagree with GSP, and that's perfectly fine, because its your subjective opinion. But nerve doesn't come into it, anymore than it taking nerve to pick a favorite color or ice-cream flavor.

Anderson “The Spider” Silva. GOAT.

What does Jon Jones has on GSP:

- Taller
- Stronger
- Longer arms
- Fear of moving up in weight category

What does GSP has on Jon Jones:

- A title in a weight category above his own
- All defeats avenged
- Spotless record (as he's never been caught cheating, let alone fucking twice)
- The most dominant career ever, so far
- And, to boot, he doesn't need dick pills.

PIMP St-Pierre for the GOAT!

Nope. Can't even touch 10 percent of the vote. Fought weak competition, is a cheater, lost to cans in his prime, calls out smaller fighters, least well rounded of the goat contenders. Needed a hail mary to beat a high level journeyman.

Lol at mentioning a juiced chael when Andy was on that juice too. Griffin was coming off a loss, came into that fight with a concussion, was an ultra favorable matchup, and never looked good again after the Shad fight.

He didn't fight at LHW to challenge himself, but because even though he fought journeymen and guys coming off of losses there still weren't enough contenders to keep him busy. Because he was reigning over the weakest division in the ufc. Many of the best mws weren't in the ufc until he was done.

There's something about Jones dominating 5 former UFC champions (finishing 4 of them) that just makes GSP's 7 consecutive decision streak even weaker.
And let's not forget Jones easily finished Ryan Bader giving him his first career loss after he had just won TUF. GSP on the other hand got TKO'd in his first title defense by Matt Serra right after he had won TUF. Don't get me wrong though. I don't think Jones is the GOAT either.

your goat tapped out to strikes

GSP lost that fight but came back stronger the other time around.
Caught cheating is a stain that will follow Jon Jones his entire career. It makes people ask the question: was he really that good, or was it because he was a fucking cheater?

your "goat" tapped out to strikes lets call him saint tapper

He tapped to an armbar against Hughes, which is ten times worse than tapping to strikes. Any doctor will tell you head strikes are much more dangerous and have far worse long term consequences than a broken arm.

I don't get why people call GSP on tapping to strikes but give him a pass on tapping to an armbar -- it suggests they have no medical knowledge. Talk to a doctor, you'll soon learn you have it backwards.

Anyone who thinks tapping to strikes is worse needs a remedial course in medicine.

absolute NUTS; Jones and Silva way higher than Aldo and johnson, PED, HABITUAL cheaters, and stilll have a good image in the public eye....the Ignorance, or willful ignorance, is stunning on these sites, by people who probably been cheated on in their lives and BITCHED about it.....

Why is there not Khabib? Breinfahrt?

Khabib only has 1 title defense. He could get there. All of the other guys on the list have defended their titles 7 - 11 times. People are too concerned with 'what have you done for me lately?'.

So what? Some of the toughest fighters in the sports history have tapped to strikes. It's always been a weird keyboard warrior criticism that makes no sense whatsoever.
