All Time GOAT poll

GOAT status is made by metric of achievements and Khabib falls slightly short here, admittedly, but retiring young on account of the the death of his father doesn't really change the fact that he was still best fighter ever, not to be confused with best resume ever which many do.

1. Highest round for round win % in MMA history as both a fighter and a coach. Greatest mind, aura of invincibility and mystique ever seen in the sport.

2. Never scratched, never bled, only ever even tested against Tibau when he was 23. Jones has 3 of those (Gus, Reyes and Santos at his physical peak), GSP had Serra and Hendricks ect.

3. Let's not pretend the guy bounced before he achieved anything. Khabib is the de facto LW GOAT, which many consider the best division (hard to argue, he's tied here for most title defences at LW and everyone else with the same # or title defences at LW has double digit losses. Khabib also has one of the longest UFC winstreaks ever, which is something his haters which are mostly salty McG fans fail to acknowledge.

Example: If Islam goes on to get more title defences is he really better than Khabib when by all accounts (and footage) Khabib beats his ass on the regular? This kind of sums up what I'm saying, in a nutshell.

you can think that, but you have to be honest about the situation; he never truly proved it.
Well yeah, I did admit that read my post.

Khabib to me is akin to the most brilliant mind to ever grace the hallways of Harvard,

but he dropped out of school early.

You are def entitled to your opinion. There's a stickied goat thread up top but it seems like the mods gave up on moving goat threads there.

But that's the thing, at that point it's pure conjecture. In other words, it doesn't matter.

He left too early, he's not even in top ten of title defenses.

As for LW being the best division, IDK, we just saw Volk match Islam's strength and neutralizing his grappling while the LW complain Islam is a mountain gorilla juiced from 10YO.

I truly believe Khabib was the best LW of his era and could've dominated the division easily for a few more years, but... he didn't.

I won't knock the logical distinction, I do think people mix semantics when talking GOATs, but what would your response be if I said the same about '12-13 Cain being the best HW we've ever seen in comparison to GOAT Fedor? Just as a devils advocacy/ curiosity

Great points you raised there! Khabib is one of the GOATest GOATs. Its still a toss up for me but we shall see after UFC 285. If JBJ gets that W and a couple of HW wins, you might have to reconsider your position! Shits about to get interesting...<{yearp}>

Not a huge fan or fan of his style, but I have to agree - I look at the LW division now and firmly believe he beats every single one of them, and I look at the LW division before he came to MMA and also believe he beats every single one of them.

Not enough quality to be the GOAT, but based on the relatively small sample at the highest level of MMA, i dont think ive ever seen a fighter be so dominant in imposing his will in a fight. And i have no doubt he would beat Oliveira, Chandler, Ferguson, Diaz, or whoever people wanted him to beat.

Khabib groupie something else, jfc. Him being the best ever after 3 title defenses, not even challenging himself by going up, extremely weak competition. The only thing he has is his undefeated record. Most people wouldn't give a fuck about him if he wasn't undefeated. But guess what, fighting against bums most of his career padded his record. It doesn't mean anything. Most of his fans wouldn't even know his existence if Conor didn't fight him. Some strange cult following going on here and I really despise it. I despise Conor and I like Khabib but man, his fans something else
