All Time GOAT poll

"There is zero discussion"

* starts a discussion on Sherdog

But I agree, Fedor is the GOAT :)

1. Fedor
2. GSP

or

1.GSP
2.Fedor

its not really a hard talk, Jones and Anderson both juice to the gills.

Fedor because people feared him more. Gsp wasn't a ko machine and became a blanket after being ko by serra.

It is not the most stupid take ever and i don't know what is supposed to be controversial about it; Silva is one of, if not the most lethal striker we've had in MMA and one of the most, if not the most mesmerizing stand up fighters we've ever had and that doesn't stand in contrast to the fact that i see modern elite wrestlers who happen to be decent strikers with really good jiu-jitsu beating him.
Whether coaches or fighters will say something similar matters little to me, i think appeals to authority and popularity should be avoided as often as possible, particularly when it comes to athletes.
I think i - quite literally - uttered this take 2-3 times on sherdog, if my memory serves me right and never more often than once a day.

There are plenty of fighters in lighter weightclass with elite TDD and striking skills clearly superior than the very basic boxing of GSP yet I dont see you around throwing that stupid, simpleton theory that you use to discredit Anderson. Let alone Fedor and the skils in the HW division compared to Flyweight.
It's just stupid as fuck, cowardly biased to discredit a single fighter, and just all around embarrassing to spit such a theory in a forum. There is a reason why you have never heard nor you will ever hear any fellow fighter/coach saying such a simpleton, stupid take.

GSP, Fedor, Aldo are the GOATS.

I'm a Fedor mark, so I rank him at the top - but I won't argue too hard about the order they're in.

GSP and Jones are a head of them imo, but it's a subjective argument.

Fedor Emelianenko is the best fighter we've seen so far.

No one yet has matched his mix of skills, abilities, athleticism, iq, etc...

Honestly I do think thats the truth, he was at his peak a case of someone who already had world class grappling ability who also developed world class striking ability whilst being very physically gifted havign great cardio and mental toughness/IQ.

The other GOAT contenders for me are all lacking in some of those areas relative to him.

Both guys are in their mid 40's still competing with young hungrier lions. Fedor in mma, Anderson not only in mma but in boxing as well. THey never took safe fights. They never said no regardless of the risk based on name of the opponent. They didnt wait 4 years to cherry pick a 40 year old guy with one eye and a foot out the door. They have given us courageous performances and in Fedors case, amazing wins against big names.

Anderson just went into boxing and handily beat a guy 12 years younger than him who was a former world champ.

Bones is the greatest talent but his story is complicated with peds and out of the cage bs. He may be the greatest of them all when its all said and done, but right now I just dont see how anyone would choose Aldo, Cejudo or a guy like gsp who fought the weakest competition out of any long term champ, never finished a fight and ducked two divisions while retiring at 29.

if you dont respect Anderson and Fedor there is something seriously wrong with you. I would love to see what some of you will be doing at 46 years old. These guys are fighting killers and winning.

Fedor's last fight should be against Silva

He's got nearly as many first round finishes (28) as Khabib has fights (29)

They should match him up with Bader for the rematch for the belt considering Johnson was ranked #2.

He wins a HW title on his last fight at age 45. That's GOAT shit.

Without getting into who is GOAT and who isn't, I think there is one thing Anderson and Fedor have over the others and is they both have spectacular finishes that come out of nowhere, where you feel like you've just watched a magic trick or something. The other candidates look more like they control and gameplan their opponents, while Silva/Fedor fights are like "wait for it, wait for it, wait for it.... BOOOM"

And they do so in size disadvantage more often than the other GOAT candidates
