Dominic Cruz still has a stranglehold over that title imo.
WEC was UFC Bantamweight division, so his reign was longer than Aljo, & he is the 2 division champ.
Also doesn't have nearly as many asterisks as Aljo does on his fights.
I can respect this...this is why I didn't say All Time greatest Bantamweight...only specified "UFC". I can agree this is still Dom Cruz being all time best. His win over TJ can be considered the best Bantamweight win of all time as well.
Fact remains Aljo has had an great run albiet to some unlikeable victories...at the end of the day his opponents could've done more.

WEC was UFC Bantamweight division

It wasn't the first brand, so it wasn't really the UFC.

A lot a fighters probably avoided those divisions not to fight under the WEC brand.

The Greatest Bantamweight in UFC history, now that is one hell of a strech.

Title handed to him from a knee he was asking for all night, loses the championship rounds in the rematch.

Run's through TJ who should never have been fighting that night.

Then has a close fight with a 125'er.

I have gained a lot of respect for Aljo. He is definitely very, very good and a worthy champion.

He is not a superstar though and his fighting style and personality don't seem to sell (Cejudo carried that PPV and even had fans chanting HIS name instead of the local Sterling).
I always thought Aljo was good when he was coming up, but never did I guess he was good enough to be champ. More power to him, I honestly never saw it coming.

Same here - his last couple of performances have definitely opened my eyes to his talent. Specifically the 2nd Yan fight and this most current one. He has a funky style that guys can't train for and he is very smart.

I think Aljo's success is a testament of how stinky the BW division is. A 36 year old who was coming off a 3 year lay off arguably beat him. He's clearly a step ahead of everybody else but it largely comes down to having massive holes in their games (Yan and Sandhagen), out of prime (Cejudo) or totally washed up and shouldn't even be fighting (TJ)

But how much did they weigh in the cage though? I'm like 99% positive Aljo cuts more weight than Cejudo does.

Maybe but it's still weird that Aljo weighed less than Cejudo in the official weigh-in.

So i don't think he's such a massive weight-cutter + he never missed weight.

Or it could be that the BW division is stacked and Aljo is just better than what people realized or care to admit.

It isn't stacked O'Malley at number 13 bloodied and battered Yan to get to the top 5, same Yan who is 1-4 in his last 5. Merab got finished by Ricky Simon and nearly KTFO by the corpse of Marlon Moraes. Didn't you fucking learn when out of prime Aldo sniffed a title shot?

The division is stacked atm, more than I have ever seen it. You just validated my argument btw, it's called depth, and right now it's the deepest division in the UFC imo.

Counting WEC, Cruz had seven straight wins in title fights. Never mind the TJ injury, the split decisions, the DQ - Sterling's win last night ties him with Renan Barão for title defenses.

Sterling's nowhere near the greatest right now. It's not even clear he's second place yet.

Idk why Aljo got down to 134 but I've seen some of his social media posts, he balloons up after fights / out of camp. Aljo has also never completed at flyweight, unlike Cejudo. I doubt whether he can make 125.

I wouldn't put much weight on that tj win. dude was fighting with one freaking arm. aside from that, the yan and cejudo wins are legit af. they were both close tho. I'd say cruz is still the goat.

Dom is still ahead of him but hes getting close.

Two more title defenses and he would have a much better case.

Beating a guy with 0 top 10 wins makes you bw GOAT?

Lol I want what you're smoking. Aljo is not in the conversation.
With a record of 15 wins and 3 losses in the UFC and a winning streak of 9 fights, he has already defeated 4 former world champions (Cejudo, Yan, Dillashaw, and Barao) and holds the title defence record. This is enough for me. If he secures a victory against another highly ranked opponent like O'Malley, it will undoubtedly cement his status as the greatest bantamweight fighter in UFC history.
