They def should count, the UFC belt literally *is* the WEC belt. UFC running their usual propaganda with the “No oNe hAS DeFeNDeD iT 3 TiMeS” bullshit. Cruz had 4 consecutive defenses (2 WEC, 2 UFC) in his first reign, and 1 in his 2nd.

I scored that fight for Dillashaw . Media was split down the middle 12 to 10 on who won, but a win is a win. I agree, Cruzs wins over Mighty Mouse, Dillashaw, Faber, Benavidez were all pretty damn impressive at the time ontop of him having 5 UFC title defenses to Aljo's 4 and the 2 WEC title defenses ontop. I think Aljo needs a couple more good defenses to have a strong case personally.
