Aljo cuts weird promo, looking LEAN

Again, yan made a mistake. I believe he thought that the knee became legal when aljo’s hands came up. He fucked up for sure.

So yeah, there’s the mistake, and then there is the blatant milking of the situation. Aljo’s job there is to present himself accurately for the professionals to assess whether he can continue. He didn’t.

Again, you’re abdicating aljo’s actions because another action happened first. Again, they BOTH matter. Aljo isn’t just in the free and clear because someone made a mistake first. Imagine if every foul was followed with the fouled fighter opting out of the fight…..
Unfortunately, I feel like foulers take advantage of the lack of consequences from their cheating actions and a lot of time, they end up having some sort of impact on the fight.

Thread needs more Randy Savage. Imagine UFC fighters could cut promos like this?

These guys can barely even watch a fight while high on coke, let alone cut a promo like Randy could.

None of these guys can take blow like the champions from the golden era of pro-wrestling and cut an insane, over-the-top promo.

Randy, Piper, Flair. None of these fighters could do a promo like these guys

I don’t think that’s what yan was doing here. The risk of dq is too great. It’s not like an eye poke or a nut shot or back of the head blow.

Sandhagen couldn't handle the funk, neither can Yan. Yan looks for an illegal way out again once the realization hits him that he's in the cage with an absolute monster.

Phil Baroni vs Amar Suloev.
Phil takes a real knee that would've KOd most people...Phil comes back to win huge.

Makes the knee that Aljo took look like a feather.
Thats because Baroni lived up to his nickname "NY badass".

For all the peeps who not seen the match (timestamped).

Whats funny with fighters going that route, KTFO'd fighters recover faster, flatlined guys recover faster and better, they usually leave the cage on their own, Masvidal was put to SLEEP and he was giving interviews still inside the cage, yet Aljo took an hour to stand back and iirc he limped out of the cage, the girl Randa Markos kick-slapped pulled a similar act, she got carried out of the cage, if they are going to milk an illegal blow for a DQ win, just take the Diego Sanchez route, say you cant continue.

I feel bad for Aljo, it's not his fault that Yan threw that knee

It's not but the way he handled it was comically bad. If he would have just said "hey I didn't even KNOW you can win a title on a DQ. The knee fucked me up I didn't want to fight compromised but I don't give a fuck about this title till I beat this mans ass" Mad people would have been down with him and probably even rooted for him in the rematch, He brought all this on himself honestly.

In this case it’s fans whining about a fighter showing a lack of grit in the heat of the moment and getting rewarded for it.
Right, and 9/10 of them have never even taken a simple punch to the face, and therefore don't have the slightest clue about what Aljo was feeling after what was a pretty brutal knee. You notice how there haven't been a lot of fighters (as in any besides Yan) who've criticized Aljo for how the situation played out? Go look up the tweets in the immediate aftermath. Most were either just surprised/disappointed that it was ending this way or critical of Yan.

Pretty poor promo by an Oscar level actor

You seem like a decent enough poster but what is with calling everyone sir? Comes across as condescending

I call my brother, friends, people sir IRL so it just sort of carries over everywhere I go.

It's not meant as a form of condescension.
Sorry if it comes across that way sir.

The fact that people still blame Aljo for Yan being a complete dumbass is mind boggling to me.

Next time how about you don't cheat Petr? Don't cheat next time..... The blame rests solely on Petr Yan. No one else. He fucked the division up by cheating against Aljo and no other narrative is genuine and I personally don't give a rat's ass about Sterling.

If you read the thread you'll see that I don't blame him for what Yan did, I blame him for the circus act after the fact.

I can certainly blame him for hamming it up, unless of course that was Yan flopping around like a fish.

Sterling has some of the funniest trash talk in the game at this point. It’s intentionally bad which really ramps up the hilarity.

I gotta say even if Yan wins I won’t be too disappointed considering how immensely skilled he is. If Sterling wins convincingly however it would be the best redemption story in recent memory.

Honestly I still don’t believe this rematch is happening. Aljo will find a way to pull out.

I mean he's gotta be terrified. So I can't fault him too much for such shitty trash talk. He knows he's the definition of a paper champion and a fuckin terminator is coming for him. Enjoy it while you can Aljo, or better yet come up with an injury to you can prolong your "reign". Yan

He had SOME success with his constant pressure and awkward striking, his gas tank just faded quickly and you could tell by the 3rd he was fucked for the long haul. He has to be working hard on his cardio to try and keep that pressure for 5 rounds straight, otherwise I don't see a path for victory especially when Aljo was losing the grappling exchanges.
