Aljo cuts weird promo, looking LEAN

No sir, I'm saying Aljo took the easy way out because he knew he had no chance of winning that fight.
Anthony Smith could've taken Jon Jones title the same way, but instead did the honorable thing.
It is interesting to observe the outcome of each decision.

Anthony Smith took the "honorable" path, he is respected by most, he has a recurring desk job as an analyst and a potential long term source of great income that will last beyond his fighting career. (even if he isn't permanently on UFC, he could work elsewhere)

Aljo took the short term glory but traded his reputation, then doubled down and has alienated the fanbase BADLY. He will be booed for the rest of his career, his achievements downplayed and he will be known, his "legacy", will be as the guy who faked an injury to win the belt by DQ, then acted like a pompous asshole about it while delaying the rematch. I highly doubt he ever gets non fighting work offered to him by the UFC and he will be on the chopping block if he doesn't win because he won't have fan support.

Thanks!

Always had a soft spot for Baroni, thought he was an exciting/fun fighter. Even though his record isnt that great.

SAKU doesn't have the greatest record but I'd rather watch him than 95% of the fighters today.
Baroni was exciting, and what he lacked in skill, he made up for it with heart.

Holy shit somebody gets what I'm saying in here, thank the gods lol.

You're as accurate as anyone has ever been at deciphering my thoughts, well said sir...very well said.

Fans didn't make him flop around the cage faking drama and fans didn't make him act like a corny fucktard.

He could have taken a classy path but chose not to, hence all that comes with his decision is on him.

"I came in to beat him in a fair fight and he broke the rules. I was compromised by the illegal knee and I knew I might not get another chance to fight for the title. I just want the fair fight I earned so we can run it back and may the best man win, and I plan to keep the title."

He could have said something like that. Instead he chose to be an asshole. If the fans have "crucified him" them he brought the cross and the nails.
He didn't immediately jump into the shtick, and did try to act with more class at first.

"Not the way I ever want to win a fight. It was close, competitive and filled with action. I felt the knee was intentional, especially after the ref announced I was a downed opponent, so I didn’t expect to be hit. Yan is a bad dude! WE WILL DO IT AGAIN!"
-Aljo (about an hour after the fight)

About half of the keyboard warriors on here already weren't having it, but then the internet MMA community lost their minds when one of his friends posted what I thought was a pretty harmless picture of him holding the belt next to Merab.

So again, he offered a response, which was fine in my book.

"I didn’t win the UFC belt the way I envisioned it, but I also didn’t do anything illegal. My friends and family flew miles to come see me and asked me to hoist the belt up as a champion, because I carried myself as such. If that offends you then you have no love in your life, and your own issues to sort out. I’m the “champ”, but I won’t personally feel 100% validation until I defend this the way I envisioned winning it, in the first place!"

Again, all of you wouldn't hear it, so he said fuck it and went full heel.

Can’t take this bloke seriously.

I mean he's gotta be terrified. So I can't fault him too much for such shitty trash talk. He knows he's the definition of a paper champion and a fuckin terminator is coming for him. Enjoy it while you can Aljo, or better yet come up with an injury to you can prolong your "reign". Yan
Yeah Aljo is probably terrified of Yan cheating again by doing an illegal head stomp since he is a cheat.

I mean maybe. He should hoping for it though, because it's the only way he's keeping that belt.

I'd sleep so good if he gets KTFO then a follow up shot later than Lawler/Trigg before the ref can get there.

How fucked would it be for Aljo to finish Yan decisively? It's just the type of fuckery that is MMA.

That bet would pay off handsomely for the one who makes it, that's for sure. Fighters of Yan's skill and athleticism pretty much never get beaten decisively if they are fully healthy, and Petr and his team usually makes sure he's 100% ready come fight time.

I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised, motherfuckers. Na'mean?

I mean the line probably isn't going to be that wide. People are acting like it's a formality but MMA is a volatile sport and Aljo at the end of the day is still an excellent fighter. People just don't like Aljo and feel like the natural ending is for Yan to win the rematch. It's the most likely outcome but far from the only one possible.

Being in shape has never been his problem.

The problem is how skilled he is. Or rather isn't (compared to Yan).
He usually carries a lot more muscle. Never seen him this lean outside of fight week. His pants pants dont even fit him any more lol
