Media Alex Pereira responds to Artem Vakhitov, saying his GLORY rival is “not like him or Adesanya”

Do you think Vakhitov can continue his rivalry with Poatan in MMA?

Yeh, people are out of their mind if think Vak won't be wrecking these HWs with his striking lol.

Like, this dude is not like Roberson, Jacoby, or Saki that all came over. The dude is a different level to them. he's not even like Alex and Izzy. He's a better striker than both.

Khalil was landing burst combos down the pipe on Alex for 2 rounds and winning easily. Vak was doing that to Alex in kickboxing even better. He does that in MMA with the smaller gloves he'd KO him.
I wouldn’t put Gökhan Saki in that category. I’m sure you know he was an absolute world-class fighter in Kickboxing days.
Cor Hemmers even called him the biggest talent he ever worked with, aside from his son Ramon Dekkers.

Anyway, I believe Saki entered MMA past his prime, dealing with injuries, and in hindsight, he ran into a different beast in Khalil Rountree.

Aside from that, I agree with you though. Vakhitov was landing clean 1-2’s down the middle on Poatan, he’s such a slick Boxer. Watching him get into his rhythm is like poetry in motion.
I’m really looking forward to his fight on DWCS tomorrow !

"Winning easily". It was Alex who brutalized him in the end. That was part of Alex's strategy, to let him let loose at the beginning to tire him out.

Sure, but Alex didn't go in their planning to just drop the first two rounds. No one is going to do that in a title fight. he's not some idiot.

And he did still lose those first two easily.

Yeh, I know Saki was great. I included him just because he wasn't elite by the time he fought Rountree, and he was past it, like you said. He didn't really adapt to MMA well either.

Fair enough mate

Isn’t Salikhov and Shara Bullet Dagestani and pure strikers? There is multiple Dagestani, Chechen and other mma fighters who came from boxing/karate/muay thai/kickboxing background and has horrible wrestling/grappling.

exceptions

Vakhitov is a great technician for kickboxing, his style isn’t suited for MMA whatsoever.

He doesn’t have Pereiras power to command respect in the octagon or the speed of Izzy to maneuver around and whip counters in a split second. He has no intangibles that make him a threat in MMA.
The only way for a striker like Vakhitov to succeed is if he has god like grappling defense, like Whittaker level defense.

Vakhitov and small gloves........Im not sure. He does not possess the equalizer Alex got

From the training videos I’ve seen, it looks like Vakhitov has been working hard on his defensive grappling.
As far as I know, he doesn’t have a long-standing background in ground game training, but he’s Russian, so who knows. Almost all those guys grow up doing some form of Sambo, lol

I voted yes, although the age difference might be an issue. And there's something ironic and hilarious about this whole thing. Pereira went to the UFC to hunt Adesanya and now he's going to be hunted by Vakhitov.

The Kickboxers Saga continues!

Poatan wll be retired, defeated, or full time HW long before fight makes sense in MMA.

This reminds me in those animes or cartoon super hero shows where the hero and the anti villian have a good rivalry
they are each others toughest opponent. and then some other villian comes out the blue to fight the anti villian and
then the hero from their previous rival shows up to defend them...

basically what im saying is izzy and alex story is so legendary it basically resembles something out of a comic book
i mean the fact alex even wanted to avenge izzy and face DDP and said something was wrong with izzy speaks volume.
Right out of Jojo's bizzare adventure.

A good chance Alex is right not if he does do well and picks up 1-2 good wins I would not mind at all seeing them fight.

Absolutely wrong. Couldn't be more wrong. Listen, Vakhitov could potentially beat Perreira right now. He beat him once before and I just seen his fight last night and I couldn't be more impressed. I'm not like these casual fans who want a 10 second KO. No, not at all, what I wanted to see was the GRAPPLING and he totally outgrappled this man with ease. This a real fight and he passed that test with flying colors. Perreira vs. Vakhitov 3 will end in a ground and pound finish for the Russian. Heard it here first Perreira is OVER-RATED!
